Wish I'd discovered sooner - - Medela freestyle double pump ...... Single ?! Seriously life is too short! - Grobags.... Awesome!!! And large swaddling Muslins when they are really small - Cloth nappies..... Cute, cheap and comfy - Jumperoo... Fisher Price Rainforest or door hanging version (he was only allowed 2 x 10mins a day, but 20 mins of sanity soooo worth it :) - my Breast Friend Pillow - Beaba feeding pod Gifts I didn't use much - bugaboo......love my Zapp and petite star zia + - babybjorn... Ergo is sooo much better! - digital bottle steriliser and bottle warmer ....Microwave steriliser are so much cheaper and easy to clean, and you can store the bottles in the fridge in it. - bumbo..... Recalled for safety issues related to head fractures - fancy baby bag I know Im over my 3.... But I also love our tall changing table with bathtub inside from baby shop .... It saved my back and all my little guys everyday clothes are stored underneath in tubs in his bathroom, it's sooo easy to have everything together, and I love that his nappies arnt in his room, and there is a sink to wipe him down. We only used the bath for a while, but I still think it was great value.

Glad I bought - swaddling blankets - rocking feeding chair (after about 4 weeks we started using it a lot to help develop a routine around wake up and bed time) - Fisherprice rainforest gym - monitor with video - saves me heading up stairs each time DD wakes Wish i had bought second hand - baby rocker chair (only a couple of months although the one we did get is now a fixed chair which is starting to be used again so is ok) Wish I had not bought - a Breastmate feeding pillow - wish i had got one that could be used for DD to help her sit so it had more longevity (was good for feeding) - shampoos and soaps etc for DD - we are still using all the free ones we got given in hospital and they will probably last us till 18 months then we can start on the ones we bought edited by perkynana on 09/09/2012

GLAD I BOUGHT -jumperoo (first son LOVED this, would play in it for hrs if i let him) -bumbo (good for feeding before they can balance/sit) -leachco cuddle u pillow (first son slept in this until he was 6 months) -playtex bottles and liners -aveeno baby products- wash, lotion, diaer cream (both of my boys have eczema) -leachco bath matt -huggies thick wipes WISH I HADNT BOUGHT/NEVER USED -bottle sterilizer (never used with either baby, their enviroment isnt sterile, there is really no need, it is a waste of time and money) -bottle warmer (feed bottles at room temp, make as i go, much faster, did this with both boys) -plastic bathtub

can I expand it slightly [b'>Glad I bought:[/b'> Miracle blankets/swaddles Fisherprice rainforest gym (much more washable than the mamas and papas padded one I was gifted) Mama's and papa's "nest" bouncer rocker (so deep and comfy for baby) Lactation classes for couples (so my husband could be helpful and supportive) lanolin cream [b'>glad I bought second hand/wish I'd bought second hand (great to use but only for a short time)[/b'> change table (since I had a c-section it was fantastic) Bassinet (much better than moses basket) baby-bjorn (used it a couple of times when travelling) [b'>Never used[/b'> tummy-tub (bucket style baby bath, my baby was happy in a very basic baby bath) sling (my baby was happy just to lay down next to me) manual pump (didn't work on my boobs) fancy breast pads (turned out I didn't leak) jolly jumper, he liked it but too much faff putting in and out and he crawled really early so I never used seats/swings/jumpers really The bra's I bought before I gave birth, (boobs doubled in size when milk came in) sleep suits/gowns for 0-6 months (we swaddled instead) [b'>wish I'd bought[/b'> cot with drop down sides (am struggling if my toddler falls alseep in the car and I have to put him in his cot, given I'm 8 1/2 months pregnant) double breastpump instead of single (now that I know you can buy new tubing, flanges etc I'd happily buy this second hand too) I think ultimately though it depends so much on yoru lifestyle and baby. In 2 years I've [b'>never[/b'> used my umbrella stroller and love my big 3 wheeler pram, I know other mums who are the opposite, some mums find slings invaluable, other babies don't have the same need to be held.

I wish I hadn't bought: 1- the 3 travel system/ strollers before my Quinny Zapp 2- as everyone else said the fancy outfits from 0-3 months 3- the breast pump that I didn't have the time/patience or milk for 4- the "cost a fortune swing" that DD hardly used 5- baby toys. They neither want nor need them. 6- the baby carrier that DD hated and the sling that DD hated in equal measure. Im glad I bought: 1- quinny Zapp stroller. Folds away to nothing, ideal for traveling and you can put a maxi cosi infant seat straight onto it. 2- a good quality cot bed. Sturdy, functional and converts to a toddler bed. 3- the jumperoo (controversial I know) but very handy for containing baby while you nip and wash out bottles/ housework. 4- the interlocking foam mats fOr DD to play on, many a bump saved! 5- the Chico style seat that DD spent 0-4 months in everyday. Sorry for going over the 3 limit

Funny how someone's best value for money can be another's waste of money :-) things I wish I didn't buy: 1. Newborn fancy clothes - like everyone else, they hardly ever wore them because they lived in their PJs. 2. Pacifiers - my kids use me as their pacifier :-) 3. Standing bathtub - it's still standing untouched and my youngest is almost 2! I bathed them first in the small tubs placed in the big bathtub, and moved them to the big bathtub once they reached 6 months Things i'm glad I bought: 1. Medela swing breast pump 2. Rocking chair with ottoman 3. McLaren Quest stroller

Great Thread! Things I wish I hadnt bought 1. Medela Swing Breast Pump - Im a working mom and i thought I could get away with using a single pump. Big mistake. 2. His cot - he prefers co-sleeping. and so do I after being away from him all day at work! We didn't really go overboard with our shopping, so its just 2! 3 things Im glad I bought 1. Medela PISA - a lifesaver! 2. Bebe au lait nursing cover - I thought this product was over priced for something that resembled an apron. This cover has been an absolute lifesaver. I now have 2! 3.Our Maxi Cosi Mila - its super light weight; we currently use it with our car seat. edited by laydeelay on 08/09/2012

nice thread dear :) for me there are very less things as my dh was very adamant against shopping before ds arrived. so i made all the list of items from where i have to buy so that he can buy afterwards :) Ds is 4 month old now. for me 3 things i wished i havn't bought were: 1. anywhere gro blind : it appeared from day 1 my ds likes to sleep with the light on. he does not like dark. 2. lots of newborn clothes sets and blankets : completely useless. you don't require so many sets.(and that too in same size of newborn).these clothes are so tiny. buying sleeping suits individualy are much better and i had 7 sets and he wore them just once!!! outgrew them fast (touch wood) so didn't got a chance to put it on him again. DO NOT buy newborn sets! 3. soft toys: not interested in soft toys :( only likes his giraffe teether. he likes only toys with loud noise or lots of lights and that too for just 10 min. i am so glad i listened to my dh for not buying moses basket. i really wanted to splurge on that but dh bought bassinet with mobile instead! good thing as ds has outgrown his bassinet too in 4 months space. 3 things which i am glad i bought: 1. gro bags : my son absolutely loves to sleep in them. he starts playing with blankets and kicks them off. 2. play gym mat : from 1 month he is playing in that and loves to talk with the toys hanging overhead ( though i have to be there all the time! ) ergo baby carrier: life saver for me. i bought it after so much recommendations from here and true to words after initial first few rejections he now loves to be in it.and my shoulder is much better. also i love my bugaboo. so easy to handle. very light weight so taking here and there quite easy.and off course pump is a life saver :D edited by angel joy on 08/09/2012

I bought loads and loads of dummies for all different ages...turns out dd hates dummies so a complete waste if money. I should have just bought one. Wish I hadnt bought clothes for 0-3 month old baby. She lived in her sleep suits the whole time and we didn't start using clothes until she was about 3 months old! Best buy for me was the miracle swaddle blankets best thing ever invented! 2nd best buy was investing in a good pump, turned out I needed to pump loads and I wasn't going to buy one at all as didn't imagine I'd ever need one, just goes to show!
