Preventing Stretch Marks Is Easier Than You Think

We're always evolving whether mentally or physically, and as a result of our physical growth, we develop stretch marks. As common as they are, stretch marks are hard to deal with and they can lessen our self-confidence, luckily, there are ways to reduce their appearance.

1. Control your weight

The main reason we get stretch marks is the rapid weight gain that causes our skin to pull apart quickly, such as in pregnancy and at growth spurts during puberty.

Working to control your weight might be your best bet, through exercise and maintaining a healthy diet.

2. Drink plenty of water

I cannot stress enough how important it is to stay hydrated, drinking enough water preserves the softness of your skin, as soft skin doesn't tend to develop stretch marks as much as dry skin does.

3. Make your diet nutrient-rich

Get to know what your skin needs, eat foods that boost skin health, so make sure your diet contains:

Vitamin C
We may need collagen for the elasticity and strength of our skin; but collagen also helps reduce the appearance of wrinkles and stretch marks.
Vitamin C is an important nutrient for the development of collagen, it can be found in citrus fruits, such as orange and lemon.

Foods rich in Zinc
What makes zinc amazing for skin health is that it reduces inflammation and plays a role in the wound healing process.

4. Cocoa butter is your new best friend

Cocoa butter is high in fatty acids that deeply moisturize and protects the skin. To prevent stretch-marks during pregnancy; look for products that contain cocoa butter as it helps keep the skin nourished and flexible throughout your pregnancy.
