Sinopharm Vaccine Approved for Children in the UAE Aged 3 and Above

The minimum age to receive a Sinopharm vaccine in the UAE has been reduced to 3 years old

Sinopharm Vaccine Approved for Children in the UAE Aged 3 and Above

Kids in the UAE aged 3 to 17 are now eligible to be vaccinated against Covid-19.

For now, the Sinopharm vaccine is available for children from three years old and above, announced the UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention.

The decision comes after many successful "clinical trials and extensive evaluations" in Abu Dhabi.

“MoHAP announced the provision of Sinopharm vaccine for the age group 3 – 17,” the official tweet from the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) read.

The Abu Dhabi Media Office tweeted that the Department of Health "concluded the Sinopharm immune bridge study for children vaccination stage and continues to monitor the immune response to the vaccine in children."

The department has also expressed their gratitude for the "900 heroes aged 3-17" who participated in the Sinopharm vaccine trials, and their consenting families, for joining in the efforts towards combating the virus and providing protection for the community.

The Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine is currently available for UAE residents from age 12 and above.

At the time of publishing this article, around 80% of the UAE's eligible population have received at least their first jab of the Covid-19 vaccine, and an estimated 71% have received two doses.
