So who is going to Taste this weekend?

This will be my 3rd time, I love it!

Does anyone remember when you brought a token book on the way in and used the tokens to pay for the food, I think that was so much better and cheaper than paying cash at each stand!

Either way, its a great event!

This was my first year going to Taste of Dubai and I thought it was a great day out! We tried steak and crab cake from Ruths Chris, scallops from Armani, burgers from Lounge No. 5, dim sum, voo doo shrimp, lots of yummy indian dishes and of course Gary Rhodes Sticky Toffee pudding and Eton Mess! :D The VIP sitting area was a bit rubbish but other than that I have no complaints. If I had more money I would have gone back on Saturday because there was still so much food I wanted to try. edited by Starry Eyed on 18/03/2013

We went on Saturday just after it opened - plenty of seating (masses more than in previous years, and so much down by the lake's edge where lots of families were camped out in the shade with little ones), no queues for anything for the first few hours, we were able to sign up for all the tastings we wanted to go to - thought it was the best organised year so far!

We went on Saturday at 6pm and i have to say i thought we had arrived at Sandance! We have family here so had 3 kids in tow and it was a nightmare. No seats, nowhere to hide from the music, very busy in general and it just appeared to be more about the drink than the food. We're not kill joys and i can see with a group of friends it would be good craic, but to be honest i don't think we will bother again.

And the music! There were DJ's cranking dance music everywhere. We finally found an area without a DJ, and sat down and started telling a staff member how much we enjoyed the quiet, to be able to talk to our visiting relative. They misunderstood, and thought we wanted music and said, "Sorry Mam, tomorrow we will be having DJ!" thank goodness it's not just me who thought this - lot of too loud hideous music everywhere - and so many very very drunk (falling over) people. wouldn't go again.

I had a greeaaaaaaaaaat time. It was my first time at this event. Children were happy at the kids' corner getting their face painted and nails done and I dont think the event is meant for the children to be there all day. We took the children for a couple of hours, they had there dinner there on the grass took them home, put them to bed and then came back to enjoy. The food was good and just the right portions so you dont end up over eating and try a little bit of everything. I think a couple of outlets had burgers but there was alot more choice than just burgers...My favourite was the steak with salad at Asado, but I tried different things from Nobu, Ruth's, Mango tree... May be we went on Saturday late afternoon and crowd was thinning after spending the weekend there, but we had a good time...

Was it me; or was every outlet offering burgers?

I have to agree with how overcrowded it was, so much busier than previous years I am sure! After last year's effort, which was OUR most-crowded year, we swore: never again. Sad to hear nothing's changed, but hardly surprised: great that you had a good time despite the heaving bodies. ;) What really annoyed me about last year was that I was being constantly spammed with emails from Taste of Dubai in the months leading up to the event, asking that I take advantage of the special VIP ticket offer. Well, numpty that I am, I purchased said VIP tix very early in the piece only to discover when we arrived on our allocated day that the VIP section was absolutely RAMMED with people; no way of getting in or out, all the table were full and had masses of people standing around besides, and the so-called security guys couldn't give a flying whatever. We ended up waiting in line for AGES to exchange vouchers for food and given that the stalls were on the main pathway, were constantly jostled, stepped on and pushed out of the way. The queues for the wine bar were even worse and when we arrived, just about everyone there were more than a few drinks into party mode. Disgusting. What was most worrying were all the little kids running around, in danger of being trodden on by drunken adults. And the noise! The music! There was no escape. I think the policy at this event is to pack as many people in as possible regardless of whether it's safe or whether people are having a good time. One for the younger types, methinks. I won't be attending again. Give me a 'Taste Of ...' in another better-organised city though, eg Sydney or Melbourne or London, and I'm there. :) edited by LadyBee on 17/03/2013

I have to agree with how overcrowded it was, so much busier than previous years I am sure! Also, my friends DH had his toe sliced open when an extremely drunk girl stood on it in her sky high heels! But...we still enjoyed it! And I got to eat lots of yummy food which is always going to be a winner for me! :-)

Did anyone try the kids zone? It was very busy this afternoon but I still found that families still found space to chill out and enjoy the afternoon.. Busy....yes, organised....yes

We went today, in my opinion far overcrowded, far too expensive and not enjoyable for small children at all. If there was a like button this comment would get liked....not good for children at all and V expensive.....although well laid out
