You give a PRO your passports to do visas. She doesn't do it. You ask for passports back. She doesn't give them back. You ask numerous times. She won't respond to calls, texts, emails. Is this stealing?

How did you find this PRO? Does she advertise? Go to the Dept of Economic Development and file a complaint. If she is not licensed she will be fined. Do you have her car reg no? Do you have a receipt for the pp's?

Clairehdp - she says they're 'being processed'. We doubt this is true as you usually get a text from the Ministry to notify you they're in the system. I think they have been lost, but why wouldn't she say? The worse that could happen is she gets charged for replacement. By not telling us we are incurring more costs through overstay fines, will still have to replace the passports and getting really teed off! AmyAus82 - An arrangement was made for her to meet us and return pasports and all documents but she didn't turn up. Are you legally trained? This is what I don't understand. When does it become stealing, or if it doesn't, what is it? We've been told we need to get a court order asking her to return them. If she doesn't, would this become stealing then? Would she be in trouble for contempt of court? What happens then? Sorry for so many questions, it's just so frustrating. We have really tried many forms of contact, even getting an HR in another company she is working for to contact her (she answers those call!)

The police have been informed. This has been going on for too long. The police said she hadn't stolen them, therefore we can't get a report to give to the embassy to cancel passports. Catch 22! We're tearing our hair out. That's why I was wondering what people's opinion on the 'stolen' situation was. HereWeGo - she works for herself. So if the police have spoken to her where on earth does she say they are? I'd get onto the police again. What would happen if there was an emergency and you needed to fly to your home country - you wouldn't be able to .....nightmare

This is worrisome in that case. Does she have an office you could go to, to look for her? Otherwise the police will have to take some action and file a report. Why did the police claim she didn't steal them? Did they manage to call her? Since you handed them over willingly maybe they would consider fraud instead of stealing?

How long has she had them? I suspect she has lost them and doesn't dare say anything. If she has had them for more than a few days I would ring her and tell her you are coming to her office immediately to collect them. If she makes an excuse saying she won't be there, tell her to leave them with her boss (she won't dare blame her boss for suddenly losing them!) and if she tries to make a different excuse then I would tell her that you are going to report them lost at the police station. If you can't get hold of her then it is time to ring her boss. No need to get her in trouble, just say you haven't been able to contact her and need your passport back immediately for something. But I really wouldn't leave it for long in case she has done something with them.

It sounds more like incompetency however ...... If you can't get them back I would send her a note informing her that if you don't receive them back by midday tomorrow that you will have no option but to go to the police. Get them back and do the process yourself it's easy I do all our visa stuff and at least you have your passports yourself. I hope she is just incompetent and not a villian.
