hi there - my 4 mo has just perfected rolling and will not stop moving when i try and put him down to sleep. he creeps up to the top of the cot even though he is exhausted. and now when i go to feed him in the night he has managed to get on his tummy at the top of the cot. any recommendations? is this just a stage...? maybe i should try one of those sleeping bags because he kicks off all the bed clothes. any advice muchly appreciated.

DD has always been sleeping in a sleeping bag. It's the safest way to keep your baby warm because they cannot by accident get the blanket over their head. I was very surprised to find shops selling blankets and pillows for babies here. Back home that's considered an absolute No No. The sleeping bag won't prevent the rolling around in the crib, but at least she stays warm and safe while doing it.

A sleeping bag isn't going to stop it. They just want to explore this new found freedom. You're going to find the same issue when they start crawling as they'll be on hands and knees during the night. Both my boys always moved during their sleep. DS 3yr old still does haha. Just don't go in right away and see if he will put himself back to sleep even if you have to let him fuss for a bit. When my DS does this I go back in after he fall back asleep and put a blanket back on him instead of moving him.

well it's waking him up so his sleeps aren't for as long during the day and he is harder to get to sleep because he does scissor kicks until his blankets come off. i guess it's not a huge drama, he does settle eventually, it's just that i can't swaddle him anymore so i thought maybe the sleeping bag was a good next step?? 19 hours...sheesh i wish - he's excl bf and it's 4 hours max overnight.

is it actually a problem? I have a friend whose son used to do laps of his cot during the night, even in his sleeping bag... which didn't seem to stop him sleeping from 19h until 8h/9h in the morning!
