I would really appreciate if you could advice this young mother, i will start cooking for my baby and wanted to know how should i wash the knife, spoon for cooking, and the pan??? basiclly, which soap should i use? is there any special liquids for babies?

Well DS is five months and has expressed milk at times. Unfortunately I don't have a dishwasher - so what's the best way to clean his bottles and teats? by hand - preferably with the water as hot as you can handle and give things a good rinse, but to be brutally honest, it really doesn't matter because as soon as bubs is mobile, he'll be licking the floor and chewing on all kinds of stuff! You what you usually do. If it's fine for you, it'll be fine for your child. I like Fairy liquid too, but only because you apparently only need a drop... haha [squirt'>... plus the packaging is cute.

Fairy used to produce an anti-bacterial dishwashing liquid, but I haven't been able to find it for 2 months now... I now just use fairy dishwashing liquid (which has a baby on the label - doesn't specifically say it is for babies though) it is probably no different to any other brands! Pardon my ignorance - what is different about fairy and the other dishwashing liquids out there? Also in Babyshop I have seen Pigeon Bottle Nipple and Vegetable Cleaning liquid - it says on the label that it is a natural bio degradable cleanser - is this any good? Yes, good for the shop. They make lots of money by scaring you. Like Hello.Kitty said before, getting LO used to the real world with normal germs and dishwasher detergent is all part of the process. If LO is old enough to eat with fork and spoon he's old enough for normal detergent. *snort* couldn't agree more! I just went with the Fairy range because I saw it, and they do the non-bio washing tablets for clothes that are 'supposed' to be better for babies .. but seriously, as I said originally, I don't there probably is any difference to any other dishwashing brands. Plus as mentioned by HAK if you have a dishwasher, that is great for pots, plates, spoons etc..

I tried every sippy cup going and DS just wouldn't use them. Then he got hold of my water bottle one day - with a straw-ish top - and that was the end of that. I now have to dismantle the flippin' things to get them clean! Half of the bits go in the dishwasher and the other half get handwashed. Ah well, needs must.

But if you have the sippy cups with straws from Babyshop, don't put the lids in the dishwasher or steriliser. DH has ruined three so far! In fairness, I've always avoided the cups/ bottles with straws because I simply couldn't understand how to get them properly clean - too many fiddly bits that you can't scrub!

if you're using a dishwasher, it's even better - use the normal tabs (or whatever you use) on the 65 degree setting (generally this is the "normal" setting. Using the products that you usually use is all part of the process of getting your baby used to the outside world.

nothing special, same liquid as you use in the house, just rinse properly and if it's milk bottles and teats, don't forget to sterilise :)
