Hey all of you moms, do you remember having back pain? Like the kind that sits there in your lower layers of muscle, just waiting for you to move then Ooooooouuuuccch!!

Is it normal? I think I'll call the doc in the meantime, but your comments always help.

Also anyone else preggers, are you experiencing this?

TIA!! :D

I suffered with this with DD from early on and i did prenatal pilates and yoga to relieve the pain. It really worked! This time round am getting the PSD pains and have been going to Blooming fit in Al Barsha park, the woman who runs it is a physio and tailors the class round your aches and pains. We do core girdle excercise so that its not your back that takes the pressure and supposed to help the flab return to normal after delivery too. If you fancy giving it a go its on a Wednesday morning at the main gate at 9am.

Im 5 months pregnant too and i suffer from belly ache, back ache like the one you described, groin pains, leg cramps..im petite so dont think my body is holding up well with the additional weight and this IS my 3rd pregnancy so my muscles and ligaments are not as supportive as they used to be. A very nice lady on EW offered to give me her belly belt and i've been told it really helps so maybe you should get one too. Hang on, 4 more months to go so rest as much as possible and get your hubby to give you feet rubs ever so often. Mine gives the best ones ;) Good luck!

Ack! Sounds like sciatica!!! I had chronic sciatica and ended up being induced for it because I couldn't move. I did go to a physio and did a lot of hydrotherapy and swimming which helped. NO fun. DH was also responsible for massaging my butt in the middle of the night (that's where my pain radiated too). Stretching can help too but can be a challenge if you have a big bump already! I couldn't lie on my back after 4ms! Standing in the shower leaning forward and directing hot water on the area can help too. Good luck.

oh hun i feel for u as i was in same position. I gained 42 kg during my pregnancy and looked as if i had triplets. I was that time in abudhabi and there were places that did massage for pregnant ladies where the massage table had a hole for ur tummy hahahahaha, I know it sounds weird but it helped a lot. or as suggested bellow, let hubby massage u a bit and try not to carry anything heavy at all and no bending down, rest a lot. talk to ur doc for some sleeping pills. I had some but dont remember the name, they did wonders for me as I could not sleep at all and had to wake up hubby every time I had to turn on a different side so he could help me ahahahahhaha. oh the joys of being pregnant :D

get the belt, I was all bump but it was a big bump, and used to walk around with my arms under it. Swimming (or waddling around in the pool) is HEAVEN as all the weight is taken off. :)

Thanks ladies. I took a bath and that really helped. :) I think I'm going to try swimming to soon. Should take the edge off, and also allow me to sleep! I hate my nights, I wake up at the same times every night: 12:30, 4:30, then 6! It sucks!! Royally! But I guess it could be worse. I am also feeling heavy in the belly so I think a support belt may work. I tried to get one at Destination Maternity yesterday and the sales lady said to me, I was too small for it. But my belly is huge in comparison to the rest of my body. I just look little in some clothes. IDK...I'm a bit frustrated. I know I'm only 5 and 1/2 months but I find myself holding [b'>up [/b'>my belly...anyone else?:\:

My sister suffered terribly from this, she was in tears from back pain most days, touch wood I haven't had it yet but it seems that it is one of those side effects of pregnancy.. get DH to offer some back rubs :) edited by swarovski on 31/07/2011

You can get support belts for your bump, from pharmacies but make sure they are the ones for under your bump when you are pregnant, not the ones to suck it all in once you have had the baby :). Takes the bump weight off your lower back.

swimming, swimming and more swimming... you'll feel weightless in the pool (until you try and climb out) worked wonders for my sciatica, on dry land I dragged one leg around like I'd been kneecapped!

A chiropractor may be of help to you.

oohhhh yes. Are you pg with your second in close succession? If so, then really, really, no kidding, DON'T OVERDO IT. My lower back/ pelvis started acting up from 25 weeks with my second (got pg when eldest was 12 months old) and I carried on thinking I could be supermum and working through the pain - developed into borderline SPD at term and yes, 2 years on, I still have back pain.

Thanks M. I have a pregnancy Yoga vid which I did yesterday but I think I may have stretched it a bit too far now cause it hurts more! :(. I will try again today but I am not at the point of not sleeping. I might just cry at that point. Thanks for the info! :D

Oh yes! Back pain was my friend for the duration of my pregnancy even though I consider myself a very fit and active person and my baby ended up weighing 3,2kg so it's not like I was carrying a lot of weight. In my case, pregnancy hormones caused by bones to "relax" and I experienced pretty bad pain. I also had tennis elbow and carpal tunnel which can be associated. I'm afraid that pregnancy pillows did not help me at all and it's just something I had to live with. The worst part was not being able to sleep due to the pain. The only thing that helped me was stretch and flexibility exercises which I did at home with the help of a pregnancy pilates DVD. All the best!
