Have you delivered in American hospital recently? How was the staff? nurses? The room? I was under impression that my doc delivers in city but came to know that it is American Hospital. I have only few weeks left and know nothing about American hospital. So I would really appreciate your comments here.

A friend delivered there recently and told me that it was full . No room available at all ! She had to stay in the delivery room for more than 24 hours ! Very unconfortable for her and the baby . I would advice to have a look at City Hospital . Good luck !

Congrats barboram on your upcoming delivery I delivered my daughter in American Hosp 2 months ago and could not have been more happy. I had a C-section and was in the hospital for 4 nights and was very happy with the majority of the staff and the nurses there. Also, I had my daughter on 10.11.11 which was a very hectic day in the hospital with 15 other babies born on the same day, however I barely noticed that the nurses were rushed off their feet. I was let down that I didn't get the opportunity to consult with the lactation consultant as she was "too busy" to see us, but other than that I was very pleased and left the hospital feeling looked after. I must give honourable mention to the maternity nurse Sarah and the L&D midwife Emma - very caring ladies that made having my first child more calm and less worrisome. Good luck on your delivery

So I took your advice and now going to check out the rooms there tomorrow morning. I called the hospital, they gave me a mobile number to a lady whom I called and she told me she was at meeting and busy, however called me back like in 5 minutes which never happens to me. Anyway, wait and see for tomorrow. Week 37.5 second baby and I am check in out a hospital. ahhhh.

I delivered there in 2010 and loved it and will be there again in July. A friend just gave birth at City and was very upset with the aftercare.

Thank you so much ladies. I am going to check the hospital out next week. My doc delivered at city and AH too but now is delivering only in AH. I am so glad that you liked it there, and even better than City...thats a plus. My first was delivered at Medcare but I wouldnt go back as I changed doc. Will try and do the tour next week, great idea. thank you once again.

Hi, I'm currently 28 weeks and will be delivering in American Hospital. I'd really recommend going on the tour (every morning) - just call the main switchboard and ask for the number of the midwife as you have to book a place (it's free, but only a certain number of couples can go each day). I feel so comfortable and confident about giving birth after going on the tour. It was great to meet the staff and see where we will be in a few months time.

Mt friend gave birth there last week to her 2nd. Her doctor was oringinally at city hospital where she delivered her first and has now moved to American. Her words yesterday were that her overall experience at AH was far better than that at city as she felt it was more personal care and attention and a lot more organised. I also delivered atAH last year and had a great experience and plan to do so again in a fewmonths.

I delivered there 8 weeks ago. I had a very pleasant experience. The nurses were excellent and my doctor was nice. I loved my stay in hospital for the 3 days I was there, I wanted uninterrupted time with my baby and I felt I got that ( it was my 3rd baby) They do a tour of the maternity ward ,every morning at 9am. For me this helped as its less nerve wrecking if you are familiar with the hospital, room and its facilities atleast. I had no complaints to be honest. (my 1st baby in Dubai, rest were in the UK. The experience was all the same except here you get your own private room post delivery for just you and your baby! )
