Hi ladies
I am wondering if anyone of you can answer my questions. I am pregnant with twins (20 weeks now), everything fine, but I am still concerned about premature delivery. So I registered at Al Wasl and am also still going to my private doctor. The plan would be to deliver at Al Wasl in case anything happens before 34 weeks and to go and deliver with my private doctor in AH if I make it to 34 weeks +.
Two questions:
-I have registered for the prenatal package at Al Wasl. Do I need to register for the birth separately and by what time? What if I go into premature labour at , for example, 28 weeks: do they take you as an emergency?
I feel there are few people at Al Wasl who are able to give you any correct asnd FULL information. Midwives and nurses I have seen up to now were wonderful, but that's about it. Was not impressed by gynae at all....
- Suppose I deliver in AH and the babies need NICU anyway. Could they easily be transferred to Al Wasl? Would the fact that I had the prenatal packager there give them easier access, or do I really need to deliver at AL Wasl to get them in the NICU?

Thanks!

HI Green-ish, I talk to Al Wasl customer service lady, and she told me, there is big waiting list for private rooms, and there is chance that I won't get private room. And my DH won't stay with me, where in AH you don't have problem with it. I'm having twins next week in AH, friend of mine advice to deliver or at least register in Al Wasl. I went there made an apt, I just wanted to ask questions, but they didn't want to speak without registering me, which cost 6,000AED for twins. Finally I spoke to customer service, [b'>one thing put me off is they don't have private rooms[/b'> and my hubby won't stay with me, because its more local hospital. I left and my Dr. in AH hospital told me that I don't really need to go to AL Wasl, I was already 24 weeks and Dr. said nothing going to happen I'm 36 weeks and 2 days today and I already booked for c-section in AH. Thanks Latifa (Al Wasl) does have private rooms...and rather posh they are! :) I'm not sure of the procedure now, but when I delivered there, mums expecting twins could pre-apply for a private room and would be given one if available. I was not high risk nor having twins so my husband had to apply when I arrived in labour. I spent a small amt of time on the shared ward then was moved to a VERY posh private room. Like I said below, if anyone wants to get anywhere with the staff at Latifa, insist on speaking to the Head of Antenatal Care or the Head of Midwifery. In the past these women have been amazing, patient and actually know what happens on the wards...unlike the clueless reception staff!

Hi there! Have you had a tour of AH yet? They have an excellent NICU. It would be worth going in for a tour and asking for more info regarding how early you could deliver there and if they would be able to accept the babies. Good luck!

Hi doublestar. Congratulations on your pregnancy. :) I delivered at Latifa (Al Wasl) a couple of years ago, which might as well be decades ago the way things change there! The one thing I learnt early on, and always suggest to others with concerns like yours...either visit or call the hospital and ask for the direct contact details for either the Head of Antenatal Care or the Head of Midwifery. You may need to be rather insistent! Your next port of call could be the Nursing Unit Manager. The CEO of the hospital is a lovely man who surrounds himself with really good senior staff. If you can talk to them, they will know what's actually happening in the hospital at the moment and the current policies as relevant to you. Overall, I was happy with my care in the gov't system, especially at my local clinic, but I found some of the OB's at Latifa to be appalling! It's worth getting to know the management team and insisting on OB's who actually know what they are talking about! Best wishes for the birth of your little ones. :)

Hi manubhadauria Thanks for your answer. I am seeing the doctors there now, as well as my private doctor, so I hope that puts me in a safe position. Will ask more information during my next appointment. Although I am not happy with the consultant I have been appointed, I have made 1 visit to the ER last week (turned out to be nothing) and the doctor on duty was very helpful and very friendly you will not be assigned a single doc. there is a panel of 5 doc's i think and every time you go you'll be seeing the doc on duty that day. That what put me off although people who have delievered there says that all the doc's are so thorough in their notes that you don't need to explain yourself every time.

can't answer your questions properly...you rae correct that information provided there is not sufficient. but i was told that if i buy the antenatal package to register there i still have to see their doc's even if i am going with private doc.that will automatically register you for the NICU if the need arises but they do prefer people who are delievering there first.better go and check in the emergency department as the person there was very helpful.
