So based on alll the recommendations here I have decided to save a few bob by changing my DLDC appt to Dr Madhu - but how on earth do I find him in Karama?? Have done a few searches and for some reason there doesn't seem to be a huge number of results on how to get to Mankhool Dental Clinic - of course, this could be my own incompetence! But usually I can at least find a location and map to most places....

Any directions or links would be greatly appreciated.

To clarify it wasnt the dentist. It was his nurse, maybe in a past life I ran over her or something. followup to the last post: I went for my tooth extraction on saturday- she had called me in the morning and booked my appointment for the evening. Even the male nurse said " I dont know what she has against you" neither do I frankly even if I dont agree with someone I am always polite. Goes to show that maybe next time I should just tell her instead. I will never ever ever EVER go to that clinic again, went to another dentist in the end - which was recommended by others - did it over my lunch break and it was fine enough for me to go back to work after.

Just a huge thank you for the directions to Dr Madhu's clinic as I had to go there on Saturday. I think I would have struggled to find the place without the instructions below, but they were brilliant. Dr Madhu was busy so I saw Dr Christopher and thought he did a great job. Around a third of the price that I paid from a dentist in Jumeirah for the same treatment.

After reading the spectacular reviews here for Dr Madhu, I decided to visit him for my first ever tooth extraction aka root canal for my tooth. I called the clinic- fixed an appointment with him - it was very difficult to get one - I had to wait a week. By the time of the appointment I was getting used to the constant ache which was growing in severity with every day. I'm glad I found the place, no thanks to the incompetent/ rude nurse who was at reception and gave me incorrect directions. Yes Yes Dr Madhu was really nice, I told him I don't like dentists in general, he didn't seem to take offense. He quickly pointed out the problem tooth and told me I would have to get it removed- he was helpful and kind. He seemed amused that I didn't want to do fillings, cos of mercury. He also told me the root canal was being done by his colleague a Mr Christopher. By the time of the scheduled root canal, the ache in the tooth had turned to a shattering throb in the ear and in the tooth. Ouchy doesnt even cover it. And the Dr M even though I pleaded that the pain was getting really bad now- had given me a prescription of period pain medication. -___________-* BOOOO! When noone called me to confirm the appointment to remove the tooth - I called and the female nurse informed me Dr Chistopher is free for the appointment but the root canal would have to take place later as they had another appointment after mine. I don't know how I kept my composure from 1. walking into oncoming traffic 2. telling her since I work on literally the opposite side of dubai, why would I drive through rush hour traffic from one side of dubai to the other - somehow without killing myself meet a doctor for another consultation- driving through rush hour traffic for another round of x rays when they had done this before. I had explained all of this when she fixed the appointment the first time. I tried though, I told her I had to cancel and reshedule it for the weekend. And when I say she seemed rude- I mean really rude. She didnt seem to know anything honestly, she kept back tracking on dates and times he was available- no appointments were present till 7th then when I asked for a appointment during the weekend, something opened up. In the process of waiting for the next appointment. I cant afford to wait more for another consultation and then another appointment to remove the parasite in my mouth. At this point I think the pain has driven me a bit insane. I'll do anything to remove the tooth - I've been thinking of Tom Hanks a lot lately- including visiting the Mankool clinic. But only this last time. Dentists can't be blamed for mistakes nurses make- but considering the entire experience I wouldn't go there again. OK fan club members I'm ready for ya. :) The account of your experience is confusing, going by the chain of events in the order you relate them does not make sense. You first say you were having an "extraction aka root canal " Which was it, an extraction or a root canal? On your first appointment you say Dr M said the tooth needed to be "removed", then you say "he was amused you did not want fillings" , but he would not be filling a tooth he had removed surely? Then you say Dr M said the "root canal would have to be done by Mr Christopher after having said Dr M said the tooth needed to be removed. How would a tooth that had been either removed or filled then have a root canal afterwards? Then you say you were waiting for an appointment to "remove the tooth but were told the root canal would be later" and finally you say you cannot wait more to "remove" it. How did you have an extraction, followed by fillings, followed by a root canal on your tooth? If a tooth is going to be removed it is not given root canal or filled first either. Confused.

Dr Madhu is my dentist, and I love him and the staff. Everyone is very kind and friendly and willing to accommodate. If I have an emergency I call or email him personally and they make an appointment for me. I recommend going to see him and he does not charge the earth for his work. He has done two root canals and given me four crowns so far and I couldn't be happier. The directions the other girls gave you are spot on and if you get lost just call the clinic and they will direct you.

Dr madhu, is opposite the main post office in Karama, also next to the fire engine services....on sh zayed rd follow signs for Rulers court as your driving under the trade centre round about.... It will take u up to zabeel rd....as u go straight ull go past the karama post office on your right. Fire station on ure left. You do the next u turn. You'll see the fire station on your right now. Do the next right that leads u on the side road by west zone supermarket. ( just after fire station)Follow that road keep to the right , your aim is to drive around to the back of the supermarket. At the back of the supermarket there are narrow ramps down with a barrier . Beep a couple of times and a man will open the barrier. Park anywhere in the car park. In the middle of the car park there are lifts. Go to level one. As u get out dr madhu is on your left nearly opposite the lifts. Don't let the lifts put u off lol. I've been seeing him for a couple of years his a great dentist.

The main street that runs in front? Think it is Sheikh Rashid road--but not sure. There is a "Mr. Baker" pastry shop with blinking lights next to the post, and Dr. Madhu's clinic is in the West Zone Fresh building which is directly opposite Mr. Baker. Parking seems to be just in the small lot there, and some parallel on the street looked hopeless around 6pm, but my husband dropped me off, so I can't guide you there--not sure if you can park in West Zone fresh parking lot. If you are staring at the facade of West Zone fresh, you want to walk around the right side of the building, which has a restaurant on the corner. walk about 20 feet down this little sidewalk, and you'll see a tooth shaped sign on the brick by the entrance. Go inside and take the elevator to the first floor--can't remember suite number, but I walked half way around the floor once I got out of the elevator. Oh--and make sure to press the button on the wall to unlock the double doors when you're exiting the building or you may look like a goof :)
