thank you all so much..i will take on all your advice inshalla. The gas control has gotten better in the past 3 days....
have my 2 week check up on the 27th so willwait to see what that brings!
You are all right - i should be proud of my VBAC - didnt think i could do it in a million years - i will hang on to that and hopefully these stiches will feel better soon!
Very nervous about $ex ..whenever that will be..but thats a topic for a whole other thread - haha!
Dear Ayda247-
I hope you are feeling better now. :-)
I went through the same thing with my 1st- the Midwife did not stitch me up properly. Intercourse was extremely painful afterwards until when I had my 2nd, I begged the Dr to fix me. She could see the problem and did fix it. :-).
As far as the gas thing, I'm afraid that just goes with the territory of having kids. ;-)
Best wishes!!!
My sister had a third-degree tear with her second and had to be taken to theatre to be stitched up (with an spinal) afterwards :(. But she's absolutely fine now and has no after-effects at all. She had to see a physio a couple of times and that was about it.
There's a physio here who specialises in post-birth physiotherapy, a lovely lady called Christine Forbes at Primavera clinic in Healthcare City. I wish I'd discovered her after my first was born!
Ayda, I just wanted to mention that if you think something's not right to check with your Ob asap. I had 2nd degree and for whatever reason my stitches came out and had to be re-done. Esp when they are dissolvable ones it's hard to know as second time around I found some coming out but this time it was OK. I suppose I just knew something wasn't right.
I was advised to recline rather than sit, esp not crossed legs and not too many salt washes ... Wishing you lots of healing love and Arnica was v helpful too with bruising and healing - it will soon be a distant memory and like u mine was a VBAC and I held onto the pride I had achieving it. You did it! xxx
I also had this with DD and my scar healed nicely within a few months. Really concentrate on your kegel excercises to speed up recovery,i used to do them whilst breast feeding to get into the habit of doing them frequently.
I also took Ducolax (stool softner) to avoid any pain when going to the toilet and would keep the area very clean and apply mebo cream to the area till it healed. I also had an allergy to mothercare maternity sanitaryware due to the wound so be aware of this.
I am now 33 weeks pregnant and so far have only had a few times where ive had to dash to the toilet but have to keep doing the excercises.
Hi Ayda,
Sorry about the pain you're going through. :( Have you tried using a sitz bath? I was given one of those at City when I delivered three months ago and it helped me a great deal. It helps increase blood circulation, thus facilitating the healing process.
Hope you find relief soon.
I think you won't have permanent damage. Perineal tearing is quite common during childbirth. I think you should talk to your doctor soon though if you are very concerned. When is your follow-up visit?
Delivered via VBAC a week ago and have 3rd degree perineal tears :( they are so painful and am feeling miserable! wondering whether i should have just gone with a c-section! i feel okay otherwise just hoping these will heal soon but have heard some nightmare stories about permanent fecal/passing gas incontinence - am in tears right now!
has anyone ne else had experience with this? i find i cant control when i pass gas and its so embarrassing! how long is this going to last? i am back to work in 2.5 months :(
i am enjoying my lovely new baby but the pain is really getting me down.
