Which one is better? I have an Avent Manual breastpump and I am only able to pump a couple of ounces per sitting. I am back to work soon and I want to keep expressing milk. Any brand you can recommend?

Thanks in advance, mummies!

Electrical double pump works the best if you will express often.

Hi Forty_winks :) you can try the medela swing electric pump they recommend it in hospitals as well. I have one selling right now, it's fairly new, just used it for a month. Still with box and complete set. I bought it for 685 but I can give it for 300aed for you. :) Hello to your LO by the way! :)

single or double ... but definitely electric! i agree with a PP about realistic expectations. my first day at the office i managed to express 20mls only - from BOTH breasts! it was a different environment, phones ringing, i could hear people talking in the corridor ... very weird. i walked out crying and thought i was going to give up. well, i kept at it and so much so that a couple of weeks down the line i expressed more at work than i did at home - sometimes 90mls per breast. stay focused and never lose sight of what/who it's for. i expressed at the times that i would've been feeding DS had i been at home. i dont express anymore and have been back at work now for almost a year - DS is 16 months old - and I'm still breastfeeding - so it's all worth it in the end. good luck x

Double electric for definite! I've had great success with Ameda Lactaline. Bought it from Al Shaiba Medical Supplies. Costs 800dhs so much cheaper than Medela and is a closed system so easy to clean :)

Electric! I really liked the Medela Swing and would highly recommend one based on the fact that they are easy to use and not too expensive. I personally couldn't express hardly anything with a manual pump but found the electric pump a breeze.

If you'll be working, you definitely need a double electric. It will take you twice (or more) the time with a single manual. I would, however, suggest that you be sure your expectations are realistic when it comes to expressing milk. If you're nursing full time and expressing a couple oz on top of that at one sitting, that's fabulous. That's extra milk your body is producing over and above what baby needs. Baby should only need a few oz for an entire feeding and you should get more if you're expressing for a missed feeding instead of in addition to nursing. The general rule of thumb is that baby should need 1-1.5oz per hour while you're away at work.
