He used to eat everything home cooked and pureed. I still cant give him anything with texture because he will gag and vomit but I pureed everything. The freezer was always stocked up with the yummiest pureed baby foods from lamb to chicken to fish to fruits and he used to love it all. Then around 8 months he started to gag and vomit on all the foods. I threw them all away and made fresh ones but that didn't work either. In desperation we went down the route of hipp organic jars and he loved them. Now at nearly 1 year old thats all he will eat. He has 6 120g jars a day plus just one bottle of milk. I tried to re introduce some of the homemade food going to waste but he vomited again. The jars are expensive I'm spending 800 dhs a month on them and they are also not nutritious like home food. Any advise ladies?

Maybe try distracting your little one when you feed - with a new toy or some fiddly gadgety toy or maybe play her favourite dvd's or rhymes etc. My daughter who was always ok with home cooked food started spitting out every single thing i fed her, i tried the above and it seemed to work. Hope this helps :)

DD is younger, 10.5 months but I have noticed that many times she doesn't enjoy being fed, she wants to feed herself, so although she finishes her meals she enjoys it much more if she is involved or if I give her something I am eating or pretending to be eating, eg some bread with cheese, pieces of fruit etc. Is your baby self feeding at all? This may also be something to try and see what reaction you get. Not sure why but it seems part of my reply has been deleted (not by me) with no indication that the post was edited which is concerning. I was referencing a forum about baby care etc called the baby whisperer, not sure if this is an issue as I have not seen any instructions stating that we cannot reference websites...anyways, just FYI ladies in case you wish to explore the forum and btw I have no association with it whatsoever, I am not even a member, just a happy visitor at times.

You could try mixing homecooked food with the jar food and gradually increasing the ratio and "lumps" like rice, soft pasta, meats , and cooked vegetables. Before the meal , give small pieces of food on your childs highchair tray and let them try them by themselves. By a year old , most doctors will be recommending a toddler not only eats "normal " food but also is well on the way to feeding him or herself . This isn't just about nutrition , it aids muscular , sensorial and brain development . Prolonged spoon feeding is detrimental . If your child continues to gag and vomit , take them to be checked medically.

we went for 4 days on vacation and my ds who is 15 months old has stopped eating chunky food or feeding by himself. i used hipp jars only there along with some bread or other finger food. after returning home he didn't wanted food at all. even when i cooked his favorite food. out of desperation when he didnt ate anything for a whole day and kept drinking milk at night at every 30 minutes i gave him one bottle of food next day at lunch and he finished all! after that cautiously i gave him fresh yoghurt and he finished it also. dinner was again the same. after talking to my mom she said he is hooked onto jar food due to preservatives which change the taste as compared to fresh food. she said to start again on pureed foods and put them in the same empty bottles of hipp. i made lentil soup for him and fed him through jar and he finished it. so gradually after 2 days we are back on utensils but still if he doesn;t eat i put it in jar and he finishes it off. try some basic food first and then gradually progress from there.my ds doesn't eat chicken in any form. he prefers fish or turkey. i still have to introduce lamb as i am vegetarian so first i have to learn to handle it :) then cook it. i have posted too about this. one day he eats heartily and next he goes on only liquid diet. i do not want to keep giving puree but he only eats family food at lunch. breakfast and dinner he wants puree. at dinner i normally cave in otherwise he keeps waking up at every 30-45 min for feed. (still BF) also i was reading an article today that sometimes babies doesn't develop muscles properly for chewing so they prefer puree only. but yours prefer jar food as compared to homemade? do you add some spices to your baby food? just try some mixed veggies soup or lentil soup or only pumpkin puree with some rosemary and cinnamon ( my ds's fav) and try giving from a jar...see if he eats.

Hi My DS up until 2/3 months ago only ate jarred food (he's now 15mths). He used to spit all homemade food out. I went for the 'tough love' approch and went 'cold turkey' with the jarred food. I only gave him homemade food. I think the first day he went without food. Second day was better. He was still drinking forumla at that point. Now, he eats our food. He still only eats the food pureed, which is fine. He hates any lumps and spits out all the food. To begin with, I made him go hungry. Now he's going through a really **** phase and spitting out food again, so I make him sit in the high chair until he eats the food (I know he's hungry as he takes a few spoons of food). This morning it took him an hour to eat his brekkie of porridge and yoghurt, lunch took half hour before he finished and 2nite took 20 mins. Becoming a battle of wills, and I'm guessing he's testing the boundries. He only drinks cows milk in the morning when he gets up and before bed, and juice in bewteen.
