Hi there,
I am new on the forum and in Dubai. 11 weeks pregnant and have not found an Obstetrician yet I am considering buying the prenatal care package at City Hospital. I thought I have time to make the decision, but I have been struggling with headaches & migraines the last 7 days and want to go to the Dr tomorrow morning. Can anybody recommend and Obstetrician at City Hospital? Many thanks!

We had our first with Dr. Ibrahim last year and now seeing him again for number two. We were very happy with the care we received throughout the pregnancy & birth. There was good communication and a good relationship between doc/midwife during the birth, it felt very calm and I felt like I was in safe hands. Plus, his nurse is lovely and super on-the-ball when it comes to admin/insurance approvals etc. I've heard and read great recommendations about various OBs at City, so plenty to choose from. There are also OBs who deliver at City, even though they are based elsewhere. My friend went for this option as she lived at Jebel Ali and found trekking to City with two little ones for each appointment was too much! We saw Dr Ibrahim a few months ago and he is a wonderful man. Unfortunately my pregnancy didn't last but he helped me through everything, answered all my questions and has got me back on track.

Dr Christian Jozsa is just amazing.. Is he at the City now? I had a wonderful 1st pregnancy with this guy. Not that he had to really do much as I had an easy pregnancy and birth but he was so relaxed and reassuring.

I am due in a week and have been seeing Dr Annika at Dubai Mall Mediclinic, she has delivery rights at City(where I will be delivering) . She is fab, straightforward, calm and super informative. She has recently returned to Dubai and as such you can always get an appointment. I would highly recommend her for sure.

I am 36 weeks pregnant and a patient with dr. Azizunisa and can not speak highly enough of her. She is an ob-gyn PLUS a fetal medicine specialist. A lot of dr. Elsa's patients are on EW so you will find a lot of recommendations for her. THe downside is that she is always fully booked and has extremely long waiting lists. Everybody looks for different things in a doctor. For example, I like a doctor that knows how to do a professional fetal scan at every visit and has a fetal medicine background so that I can do my NT scan and my anatomy scan with the same doctor. I am also looking for a soft spoken knowledgable person who keeps the fine line between doctor and patient without crossing it and yet gives me the feeling I can call or message every hour of the day. I like the fact that appointments arent rushed and every time I feel like I get the attention I deserve. If I have a problem, small or big, I want my doctor to take me serious, no matter how many times she or he has heard this before. I also want a doctor that respects my birthplan for as much as it is possible, no matter what crazy expectations I have. WIth dr Azizunisa, I have found all these qualities so for me she would be an excellent choice at City.

Dr. Azizunisa is the name of the ob at City who is head of the department. You should also search this forum for City Hospital and you will find loads of recommendations for many of the obs at City. If you're considering other hospitals as well simply search the forum for the hospital name and you will find many relevant threads with recommendations from most of the top private hospitals as well as the government hospitals (which are also top hospitals btw). Good luck again

Hello Kat, congrats on your pregnancy :-). Many of the obs at City are highly recommended. I was initially with Dr. Anne Philip who was good and am now with Dr. Elsa who has super high ratings from many of her patients. The waiting list for both doctors is currently very long though (Dr. Elsa's being the longest). I suggest just calling and making an appointment with the ob who is available the soonest and get on Dr. Elsa's waiting list. I was in the same boat as you (not scheduling an appt until I was 11-12 weeks) and I started with Dr. Anne and didn't get an appointment with Dr. Elsa until I was 34 weeks! There is also another ob there, I forget her name but she's the head of the department there and I've heard some great reviews about her as well. Regarding your headaches, I too had headaches at the beginning of my pregnancy and the doctor prescribed Magnesium. I also have a couple of other pregnant friends who've also had headaches and their doctors have prescribed magnesium as well. Its also good for leg cramps so I would suggest taking that along with your prenatal vitamins and you may find the headaches will simply go away. Mine went away on their own as my pregnancy progressed and I only take the Magnesium if I have a leg cramp now. Good luck, and do let us know how everything goes.
