Please I want where it is this souk my cat was stolen from yesterday and if all stolen animals might be there I'll go and search. I live in dubai and somebody stolen my cat at 5 morning. I would go wherever I can to find her.

You can import and export tortoises out of the UAE. The CITES certificate does not mean you cannot take them out of Dubai, it just states that they were traded legally, and you need the certificate when you buy the pet, in order for you to exit the country with it later on. If you buy the pet without a certificate then you will have issues, because the origin of the pet is unknown.(illegal trade, stolen etc). This goes for parrots, snakes, tortoises etc. http://www.moew.gov.ae/en/our-services/cites/cites/cites-certificate-importexportre-exportothers.aspx edited by Edye on 02/04/2015

Remember tortoises are protected by CITES which means that you cannot take them out of Dubai when you leave - we have 5, of which 2 have all been found abandoned and the others given us by people leaving. Even our vet who has rescued tortoises and a parrot cannot get the necessary paperwork to export these animals with him to his home in Europe. Maybe foster one whilst you're here, but don't expect to be able to take it with you.

Hi M-king, I guess this is about a tortoise? please do a search for Fiat500, she can advise where to get healthy babies, she might have some for adoption herself. You can reach her through this post: http://www.expatwoman.com/forum/topic220689-message-for-fiat500-forum23.aspx good luck...

What everyone else has said! It's vile, the animals are kept in horrible conditions and all the stolen pets end up there. Illegal animal trading. People are campaigning to shut it down. Please don't support it.

If you're planning to get a pet, please don't support the cruel, cruel trade that exists in the animal souk.

Yes, I am certain it is, but if you are an animal lover please don't go, it will break your heart.
