Hi there!

I'm a nurse from the UK recently relocated to Dubai due to partners work. Been here around 7 weeks and no real luck on job front yet! Nursing doesn't seem to pay very well, and any that do hours are 52+. Not sure if its a good idea to look outwith my profession to different options? Also wondering how it is here during Ramadan? are places still open etc?

Thanks for your time!

Also, have you had your certificates verified? I got all mine attested (|?) before we left the UK so hoping that will help things along a bit

I just googled (quite a bit) and found example questions re the exam. They seem quite varied, and based mostly in general nursing, which is tough for me as haven't been a gen nurse for many years as became a midwife then recently a health visitor. I hope I have enough evidence to revalidate when needed based on the last few years, but will need to work eventually.

Hi, My background is nursing/midwifery. I'm here because of husbands work too. I have not started looking for a job yet, waiting for visa to go through. I have looked at the exam that nurses have to take, think I'll have to do a bit of revision!! I am slightly concerned how I will keep my NMC registration going so ideally need to work to clock up the required hours. Hi, Yes I'm in exactly same situation and my revalidation is due in January! if nothing comes up may need to go home and do bank until then and come back out and try again! where can you see the exam that needs to be undertaken?

The summer break starts right after Ramadan so it will be quite for another 2 months or so. Phillipino nationals seems to be the first choice for many practices here.

Thanks for your help. Worry because nursing is such a specialised field may be more difficult to leave into a completely different role. What is average salary in UAE does anyone know? And during Ramadan I assume restaurants etc are all closed through day? Not all are closed, many now can apply for a licence and also serve alcohol ( They tend to be British bars) I have no idea regarding salary sorry

Not the best market to change career paths in. Ask a uni grad how easy it is to get a job without a relevant cv. Nurses get paid very little here and really do work so hard. I have so much respect for nurses, and all who i have met here are still so caring. If yoy want to work here why not apply for admin at a clinic? Ramadan success is by chance/luck. But if you apply for admin you night be fortunate this year as a lot of families are leaving so housewives jobs will become available. By partnee you mean busband, right? And he is sponsoring you? Irll be harder to get a low leverl job if you also need a company visa.

My friend is a nurse who also came and worked here, but the majority of nurses are from subcontinent countries who accept lower pay rates and work long hours - she gave up and went and found work in another field instead.

Most private workers here myself included work 45 hours plus a week Historically Ramadan is very quiet and the job front is slow, also bear in mind that everything slows down as we head into the Summer and the kids holidays. Have you looked on the job boards of some of the outstanding schools as their hours will be shorter and maybe their salaries will be better than the ones you have seen
