In true expat form, we went and fully booked the next month with visitors - starting with my in-laws, and my cousin following after.

We're half way through THREE WEEKS with them and safe to say, they're driving me nuts. Longing for the 20 minutes of reading in peace and quiet before I fall asleep.

I mean, yes, it's lovely to see them and we were so excited before they got here. But now they're here, I'm counting the days until silence in our house again - is that really really mean?

Anyone else often feel this way or am I just being miserable?

It's so stressful especially if you're trying to work at the same time as having visitors. are they super needy when they come over here do you think or are we just being super protetctive? why can't we just say here's the Careem number here's a map, here's a list of things to do, here's a phone now off you go? we'd do it when visiting another country wouldn't we?

You are definitely not being miserable. i feel exactly the same. I've just had a set of visitors and the next are due in less then 2 weeks, it's so tiring and financially draining. i am definitely thinking of putting a stop to it.

I can relate to what you're saying... My mother-in-law came to visit us for a week last year and I felt like I needed a vacation after that! Good luck with the rest of the time with the visitors!

I'll most definitely need a staycation or something after they've left.....

After being here for 9 yrs i know exactly how you feel.... we once had a few weeks back to back with visitors coming and going and it can get a little much. If they've never done one before, book a desert safari that takes up an entire afternoon/eve for them to enjoy so you can get some chillout time.
