Monroe’s Nursery located in JBR is a nurturing, supportive and a respectful environment where families are embraced and the cultural diversity of the country is respected and celebrated. It’s a place where children and families feel safe, secure and valued and where the staffs are encouraged to flourish as individuals, professionals and as a team.
We encourage and support our children to grow socially, emotionally, cognitively and globally through child-initiated and educator facilitated learning and development activities, enabling them to reach their full potential and to become active participants in their community and world.
Age Range of Children for Admission
We cater for children from the ages of 3 months to 4 years at present but due to the high number of enquiries and requests by our satisfied parents we are looking into expanding to a higher age range catering to 6 years. This will give us an opportunity to have a KG1 and KG2 class which will help the local community and make the lives of parents and children less difficult.

The areas of learning and development
There are seven areas of learning and development that shape our educational programs. All areas of learning and development are important and inter-connected. Three areas are particularly crucial for igniting children’s curiosity and enthusiasm for learning, and for building their capacity to learn, form relationships and thrive. These three areas, the prime areas, are:
-
Communication and language;
-
Physical development; and
-
Personal, social and emotional development.
Our staff also support children in four specific areas, through which the three prime areas are strengthened and applied.
The specific areas are:
-
Literacy;
-
Mathematics;
-
understanding the world; and
-
Expressive arts and design.
Assessment and planning:
Observation is the most valuable assessment tool available to any practitioner in the EYFS. Our staff makes continuous observations of children engaged in child-initiated play, adult lead activities both inside and outside the nursery; these observations are written using an observation template or through taking photographs. They then use these observations to make links between what they see in progress and how it links to the learning goals of the children’s EYFS profiles. Assessments are also used to ensure that future planning reflects the individual interests and needs of the children in the class.
All of the observations are filed into individual children’s EYFS profiles. These profiles are made available to parents at various points throughout the school year and are given to them at the end of the academic year. During each term teachers discuss the progress of each child and highlight how the child is developing. Children’s progress between one term and the next is monitored and measured to ensure that each child is reaching their full potential.
Planning:
Analyzing the information from the observations our teachers carefully plan, developmentally appropriate, play-based activities, based on monthly themes, to help the children develop a wide range of cross-curricular skills.
