Queen Ethelburga’s College near Boroughbridge has repeated its 100% overall pass rate for its Year 13 pupils but has seen its average UCAS points score per student increase so considerably it could become one of the top 50 schools in the country.

The school’s Faculty, which caters for a wider range of aspirations, with A levels and BTECs in academic, vocational and creative subjects, saw a similarly impressive 100% pass rate and students there achieved average UCAS points of 459. 91% of BTEC courses taken were awarded a distinction grade (the equivalent to an A Grade at A-Level in UCAS points).
Out of the 143 Year 13 students at the two schools at Queen Ethelburga’s, 102 have received offers from some of the country’s most prestigious universities, belonging to the Russell/1994 Groups and City Universities. The school’s top student achieved 780 UCAS points and will go on to Imperial College to study Mathematics.

Local students have fared extremely well in this year’s results at the school.
Wetherby girl, Anna Cornforth, achieved an A* and 2 As and will go on to Bristol to study Veterinary Medicine; while Jodie Edwards of Harrogate also achieved an A* and 2 As and will study Criminology at Durham. Kelsey Mills of Market Weighton achieved three As and goes on to study Neuroscience/Psychology at Glasgow.
Among the Faculty students, Roisin Potter of Harrogate is heading to Loughborough University to study English and Drama having gained a triple BTEC distinction* and BTEC distinction alongside an A level, while Adam Dent from York achieved a double distinction*, a distinction * and a distinction at BTEC and goes on to Leeds Met to study Accounting and Finance.
Among the international students in the Faculty, Vincent Huo gained a place at Imperial College to study mechanical engineering with 3A* grade A levels and Anastasia Vasilyeva is moving on to King’s College, London to study Business Management with an A grade A level and a triple distinction in Business BTEC.
