Dubai pupils will be able to take on real work experience under the Knowledge and Human Development Authority's (KHDA) Rahhal program.

Schools and companies across Dubai can now partner up to give students industry experience through internships.

GEMS FirstPoint School - The Villa announced on June 23 that they have partnered with German automation firm, Siemens, in providing work positions. The initiative is set to begin on the next school year, where students can sign up for part-time job placements during school hours.

GEMS students will spend one day a week with the company to build skills and apply theories learned from school into practice, granting them an advantage in the job market following graduation.

What is the Rahhal program?

Rahhal is a learning program dedicated to bringing students a personalized alternative that combines education and experience.

The program allows pupils to follow a flexible learning plan based on their interests and learning needs, where they can study at school and spend their extra time developing invaluable industry skills.

This plan is first tailored and proposed by the school to KHDA, which is then reviewed and approved. It is purely optional for students from participating schools.
