From what I know it can be quite difficult to get people cover 80+. Take a look at plans from a company called ihiBupa, I think they can cover people over 80+. However I think the cover is limited.
Yes, it's just an unfortunate fact of life that the older you get, medical insurance becomes much more expensive and the number of exclusions increases.
If your husband will be sponsoring her on his visa, then you can obtain medical insurance. Yes be careful about travel insurance, as that will become invalid once she becomes a resident.

You need to be careful about RESIDENCY or insurance will be invalid! She will need to come out on a UK one as a UK resident then you would have to change if she became resident.
Just spent the morning reading small print as we are doing some travel insurance policies.
For travel insurance for UK citizen I'd recommend Saga - my Mum uses them, and even though she's got a few health issues and was even in hospital over the new year with blood clots in her legs and lungs, she still got cover (annual travel policy).
Can anyone advise on travel insurance or better still healthcare insurance for my elderly mother coming to Dubai - she is soon to be 80 years old. We would actually like to move her here, but if not possible because of healthcare insurance, then a policy that covers multiple travel up to 90 days. Any clues anyone ? If we were to obtain a visa for her, what is the local healthcare cover like ? - She is a UK citizen.
