Just drove past a bad accident on Emirates Rd, just across from DSO. Not sure how it happened, but a whole vehicle was in flames. Very sad, wish people would drive with more caution. Hate driving by stuff like that with my kids in the car :(

We were there too a minute or so after it happened, no services were there at that point. It turned my stomach too, would like to think it wasn't the result of careless speeding drivers. Hope everyone invloved survived.

Yes, this was a separate accident, it happened on EMirates Rd, not the Bypass Rd. I was approaching it at 3.20pm, not aware, and all of a sudden I was faced with about 50 cars driving toward me (the wrong way)...I was like....WTF....and swerved to avoid them. Then it became apparent that they had hit the traffic jam and decided to turn around (YES, quite literally) and head back to the Al Ain turn off, to avoid sitting in the jam. I carried on and once I passed the accident scene I could see the burnt out remains of the minibus, plus the other badly smashed up vehicle. There were enough officers on the scene, which they have to call out once there have been deaths reported. But nothing about it in the papers. edited by IAMVP on 19/10/2011

Was this a separate accident from the 36 car pile up reported in GN? Really scares me to think about being on these roads sometimes.

Thanks lcfcfem. I don't know what it would take for people to realize how their dangerous driving can ruin so many lives. Will say a prayer for all those involved in the accident. Very sad indeed.

Going towards Sharjah, just past the Al Ain turning. It happened a couple of minutes before I came up to it and it looked horrific. I feel quite sick and very upset. Looked like two work buses collided and one was up in flames. People were running all over the road carrying the injured, whilst some silly people were stopping and actually taking pictures on their mobiles. I cannot see how the poor souls in the burning vehicle could have stood a chance.

I really hoped with the road safety campaign that things would get better but read in GN that2 died and 3 injured over weekend bringing the tally to 97 deaths this year! I too really wish people would think about these things. Will it ever change?:(

Going towards Shj or Abu Dhabi. My husband is coming home that way and would like to let him know to avoid it if he can.
