Hi Ladies,
I need some help please. I've been told I (very likely) have adrenal failure/fatigue. I'll have the tests in the next week but have all the symptoms and ailments.
I can't find any websites with useful information and what to do to help.

Does anyone have any advise or helpful info.

TIA!

I have been diagnosed with Adrenal fatigue and have been put onto medication. I would like to consult a dietician to help me get a correct eating program but one that specializes in the adrenal fatigue. Anyone know this type of dietician?

Hi guncoley, sure I will send that off to you. I know what you mean about no one listening to you! Unfortunately, it is a syndrome that is only starting to be recognised by the medical community. No one seems to test for it, which is silly, because it's a very simple test for cortisol rhythm. Instead, people are just dismissed by their docs. In my case, I was told I was depressed. Well, yeah, I was depressed, but that was because I was exhausted LOL! No one even suggested the possibility of food or food intolerances could create such stress. Of course there were other things besides that, but the food was a biggie. Got it all sorted out now. Now I can't believe I could go for so long feeling that lousy. I kind of just accepted that it "normal" and that I would just have to go through life being feeling cra**y @ sunshine - I'm just drafting that stuff right now and will get it off to you shortly. Sorry for the delay - I was away for the weekend gusncoley - you can remove your email address now, thx

Hi Sunshine, I just saw your post. I'll gather some information & email you. Having a food/feeling journal is an excellent idea. In my case, it turned out I was intolerant to a few foods, and didn't realise it because the symptoms weren't ones I would have thought of as being related to a food intolerance. I would be willing to bet that you have at least 1, probably more, food intolerance. This causes major stress to the body. It could also be the cause of your headaches - it turned out that chicken, of all things, was causing my headaches and garlic was causing a feeling of fullness in my ears. Gluten was causing disrupted sleep, feeling unrested in the morning, exhaustion, anxiety, depression, stiff joints - the list goes on Keeping a food/feelings journal will help you get to the bottom of that. Include any symptoms that don't feel good - it doesn't matter what they are BTW, blood tests for food intolerances are not always accurate. I have, on a few occasions, submitted double samples for the same person, and completely different results came back! Anyway, enough for this post - I'll get on that and send you some info. You can remove your email address now

Morning Trin, my email s sunshinedubai at ymail dot com. Thanks so much for the info-would love to learn as much as I can. Have decided to keep a food/feeling journal so when I go to the Dr I don't sit there trying to remember what I feel like and when I feel worse. I've tried to deal with the stress. Stopped working/eating better/taking multi vitamins and tissue salts/started walking and yoga... and nothing is working yet. My poor DH needs a medal-he says he just wishes I was back to 'myself'. Makes 2 of us! Thanks again and I look forward to hearing from you.

This syndrome is thankfully getting more and more recognised. Many doctors aren't even aware that it exists. There is an excellent book called Adrenal Fatigue, the 21st Century Stress Syndrome, by James L. Wilson. It has some excellent information and advice on how to overcome it. Essentially, it is a deficiency in the functioning of the adrenal glands, which normally should secrete tiny, precise, balanced steroid hormones. They're designed to be very responsive to changes in your inner physical, emotional, and psychological environment. That means that too much stress can deplete the adrenals and decrease output of hormones, particularly cortisol. Reduced adrenal activity can affect your organs, cardiovascular systems, and cause changes in your metabolism, electrolyte balance - even your *** drive A naturopath or holistic health practitioner can definitely help. It is very, very important to uncover the factors that caused it. As I mention above, too much stress is a major factor. Not just emotional stress, but environmental, spiritual, physical, stress from noise, electromagnetic stress, too much light, food intolerances (IMO, this is one of the biggest things that can lead to adrenal fatigue) etc. Adrenal fatigue is something to be taken seriously. There is hope! I had complete adrenal exhaustion to the point where my adrenals weren't functioning at all and I was quite ill. It was a long, long road back to health but I did get there Sunshine, I have a lot of information and suggestions I can give you - if you would like my email address, just let me know and I'll be happy to send info to you.

I've been told to make an appointment with Belinda Rennie. Anyone seen her? It's not the fatigue that bothers me as much as the constant headaches and feeling depressed that I really have a problem with. REALLY HOPE SOMEONE CAN HELP ME! It has been too long.

Thanks Natalie8. Going to try find a naturopath here. Maybe they can find some answers for me. Been having horrid constant headaches for nearly 2 years and have tried EVERYTHING and now they think it's this adrenal failure/fatigue. Very stressed-lots of causes and none that I can do anything about. Thank you so much-will let you know how I go..

I had that when I was still in Canada and I went to see a naturopath. She gave me a really good herbal blend that contained liquorice root. It worked really well. What I can suggest is you go see Heather Eade or to that centre that has naturopaths, chiropractors etc. I can't remember the name of it. Besides a good natural supplement, you would need other natural therapies such as acupunture. Have you been under a lot of stress lately? That was what did it for me and I tended to keep everything inside. I've gotten better with age, but I still need to be careful. Good luck and let us know how you get on.
