Advice please - Can we move out and transfer the rental property before end of contract...?

We moved to our appartment beginning August 2011. Contract ends July 2012.

If we need to move out, say, Jan 2012, is there a mechanism whereby you could transfer it to someone else so that they could move in until the end of the contract? Or would that be messy or not feasible?

Or, what do people do, if they need to move out in the middle of a rental contract? Must have been done by other ladies before.

TIA

Thanks SIzzles. That's potentially a good way out.

You can do this without involving RERA if the LL is open to it. Most LL won't mind as long as they're getting the same (or more) rent. All you need to do is find the tenant, and the LL will draw up a new contract from the date the new tenants will move in, and refund you your remaining rent or give you back your cheques.

Thanks bbcb. Would you know where the RERA regulation you refer to can be found please? I found this http://www.rpdubai.ae/rpdubai/home/laws_regulation.do?lang=0 but still cannot locate the regulation you refer to. We will be speaking to the LL, once I have got my head around what our position is and the possible options - in order to avoid circular discussions or misunderstandings - I don't expect he will know. edited by Sugarbeach on 08/11/2011
