My helper is going back to Manila in feb and we got her a ticket with Qatar airways 1,084 aed best price ive ever got. I used always get he tickets with cathy and eithad before which cost in excess of 3000 and never thought of qatar until a pilot friend of mine mentioned it and whow look at the price difference...
To be honest - if her taking time out doesn't suit your family situation but it's better for her to go back to her family in the summer when the schools are off - then that's when she has to take her holiday. Has she completed her years service and her holiday is due? If not, then perhaps you can explain to her that this is when she will be able to take her vacation - not in March...... We all have to complete vacation request forms - some are rejected - so....if it really causes you a big problem having her away at this time - then you have to reject her holiday request.
The exit pass is so that they can exit Manila to return to Dubai - the Polo office is here - Deira area - talk to your maid she will know all about it and if she doesn't she will be able to ask the maid mafia who know everything! You need to complete this before she travels and it allows her to easily leave Manila to come back to work for you again.
Thanks Claire, yes she has been with us for 2 years and its the graduation of her children, so i dont want her to miss that, i wouldnt want to miss mine, i will ask her about the exit pass.
Thanks
Yep it took me 4 months, i am quite particular about who i leave my DS with, i interviewd many maids over that period of time, mothers instinct put me off all the others, only my current maid gave me a nice feeling and i instantly new she was the one, it took me 4 months to find her.

egg- yes, serious. perhaps you could do with 2 maids.
It really took you 4 months?
I just chose from the agency, only 1 of the last 3 was not so good, but she did stay for 20 months (out of a 2 yr contract). Other 2 were perfect.
Sorry i am hijacking too, whats the exit pass for and where is the Polo office?
Also does the maid have to return to Dubai within a set time frame like the other poster asked i.e. 30 days etc?
I am asking as our maid wants to return end of march for a month for her childrens graduation.
Also whilst on the subject what do working mums do when the maid goes on vacation for a month??? I am struggling to think of a way around the situation as i work full time and DS is only in school until 2pm? Arrrggghhh :)you tell the maid she will get vacation every 2 years. then cancel her and get a new maid. 2 years is good really, any more than that and the problems start ....so just get a new maid every 2 years and you will never be maidless.
Are you serious???? Absolutely ridiculous, why would i go through all the trouble of finding a new maid i can trust with my DS, go through all the trouble of visa processes, setting down ground rules etc, when my maid is wonderful, i dont want a new maid, i am happy for mine to return to us after her vacation, my question was what do other working mums do when thier maids go on vacation.
It took me 4 months to find a maid i could trust, i cannot afford to spend that amount of time trying to find another one.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but I have a related question...is there a limit to how long maids can be out of the country for when going for a holiday and still on a valid visa to return? 28 days?
I think the exit pass from the Polo office is valid for 60 days but I'm not 100% sure - best to check with them.
gentle bump for my question below about how long a maid can visit home country for when returning to Dubai at the end of the vacation to continue working on the same working visa? Is there a time limit eg 28 days only?
Try going from Sharjah, cant remember the airline but I hear its really cheap.
I didn't think any airline flew from Sharjah to Manila. I will try to verify this.
ETA: I just did. It seems there is nothing to Manila from Sharjah.
OP: Your best bets are Gulf Air, Cathay Pacific, or China Southern (?) Airlines but nothing will be cheap in July.

Hi Ladies,
Which airlines are the best option to get to Manila from Dubai?
I have looked at Phillippines airlines but looks like whole month of July is already sold out..
Trying to get an affordable holiday ticket for our nanny...
TIA
Don't forget to get her exit pass from the polo office before she goesor she will have trouble getting back in.
