Have you been asked to get involved? Being a leader in Guiding, no matter the section is a committment but great fun. It's not just a case of going along each week and being there. Brownies/Rainbows/Guides have a programme and each weeks activities have to be planned and are usually shared by the leaders. Having done it for many years, I wouldn't describe it as hard but depending on the girls, discipline is important and little girls can be noisy especially Brownies. The meetings have structure comprising of games, maybe a couple of planned activities such as crafts, perhaps a learning activity such as first aid, life skills, the chance for girls to air and share (called a Pow Wow) singing songs etc. Girls also work for badges and achievement awards etc. It can be a busy hour and a half which is a typical meeting time. I hope that you get involved, it is extremely rewarding. I'm not a Brownie leader, preferring the older Guides as I love camping and the type of activities that this age group do. Good luck :)
