Thanks JoyceB
Will check those out. Would love to get out asap, and eventhough I have made my decision for a July exit, I may only leave in Dec :-(
You could also try the Hillfoots in Clackmannanshire which is where I live and it is beautiful. Agree that there are fab suburbian towns and villages in the Stirling area too. The new hospital mentioned is Forth Valley Royal which is brand new and as someone said, state of the arc. Stirling incidentally was given city status a few years ago and is a lovely one to visit. I live in a little town called Alva which we love.
Yes
Thanks Nonni
Saw a really nice place on the net in St Ninians. Is the area good for schools, shops etc?
I have 2 kids, third on the way. I am British (by descent) so have never lived in UK, only done holidays and husband is British by birth, so think i am covered with NHS, right?
Do any of you have a National Insurance number?
Thanks Nonni

Hi Turkish
Wouldn't look at St Ninians - some nice areas off the top of my head are Bannockburn, Cambusbarron, Bridge of Allan - all depends on budget. King's Park is very very expensive but gorgeous old area right in town.
Would think you would be ok with NHS as you are British. By the way new hospital is state of the art - meant to be amazing

dont look at Grangemouth - very industrialised - large oil refinery there. Brand new hospital just been built half way between Stirling and Falkirk - don't know about you getting into the NHS system - depends on your status I suppose. Lots of nice areas in Stirling - depends what you are looking for
I'm confused now, why do you say that? Am i missing something?
If I have to describe why I wanted to move there, it seems slightly village like yet
Still close to big city.
Please advise Sue R as you've made me nervous :-)
Make sure you visit and get a feel of the place before entering into any committments. It's definitely not village like! Shops are pretty good and the people are really nice, but Stirling and surrounding areas have much more appeal.
Thanks ladies. Beautiful countryside and the simple life is what I am looking for, just had enough of Dubai.
Another quick question, I'm due to have a baby early October and hoped to move by August. Is it easy to get into the system? How far are the clinics/hospitals?
The areas I had looked at initially were Grangemouth and Stenhousemuir but will look at Stirling too
I don't live in Falkirk but fairly close being from the neighbouring county of Clackmannanshire. I have many friends who do live and work in the area. There are loads of really nice areas with brand new houses, schools are good as is the local college. A close friend is head of guidance at Larbert High school where my nephew attends and the stats are excellent. Primary schools surrounding this high school are good too. Falkirk is close to both Glasgow and Edinburgh, not forgetting my local city of Stirling and the countrside is beautiful. There is also the local attraction of the Falkirk Wheel which moves narrowboats. Too many people make generalisations about places in the UK which is unfair. Like any area, there is bad and good. None of my Falkirk friends have had any issues with crime or anti social behaviour.
Falkirk's ok not really village like though. Think there would be nicer areas around although I have a friend who lives there in a beautiful big old Victorian house and loves it. You might want to look at Stirling not too far from Falkirk - much nicer though I think. Stirling is a small town surrounded by lovely scenery and also is known as the gateway to the highlands so lots of lovely areas around it. Falkirk doesnt really have that - probably more industrialised I would say - hope this helps!

Hi there
A while back I posted a thread regarding places to move to in the UK. I did more research and found Falkirk to be one of those places.
If there is anyone out there who comes from Falkirk, or knows the area, regarding where the nice suburbs are, good schools, proximity to public transport etc, please could you let me know. From what I have read on the internet, it seems to tick all my boxes, but I just want to be sure I haven't missed anything.
TIA
