Anyone grown grass from seeds here ? or put down artificial grass

I am sick and tired of re-doing the grass, it's costing a small fortune.
I was in Garden Center today looking at artificial grass (which the assistant told me was not suitable for outdoors! I am sure he is wrong, but who knows!!).
While I was there I noticed they have a big display of Australian grass seeds, for drought areas. Has anyone had any success with seed grass here. I am just thinking that everytime a bit of grass dies, I could just throw a few more seeds on it, is that possible ?
Anyone know where I can get artificial grass which is not 300AED per sqM. (ACE prices)
