as mine is playing up!!!. I have been using a paid vpn since aug last year (i wont name it!!!) and have not really had any problems. since yesterday when i was trying to watch "the only way is essex" (i know im a complete saddo!!!) the programme kept stopping and starting that i couldnt watch it. the vpn says its connected and normally when that fails i get a message. tried all the players then, itv,bbc and channel 4 and they are all the same. i am on du if that makes a difference, anyway just wanted to know if it is happening to anyone else before i email the vpn provider. TIA

Has anyone else's du connection improved? It's still rubbish here, I'm presuming they still haven't fixed the undersea cable. How does one of those get accidentally cut, anyway? By a swordfish?

We're running two laptops in our apartment and paying for 8meg with du - my speed this week has gone from bad to worse, (either without, or especialy with the v p n) but when DH does the speedtest.net on his laptop, he's getting speeds of 11meg - don't understand it!

Is it just me, or has the thread about the BBC iPlayer app been deleted? I can't imagine why, we were talking about the cut cable there as well..

I called DU as we have a really fast internet speed and it was running ridiculously slow. They said someone had cut the cable under the sea on 20th and it wouldn't be repaired until 31st. They didn't know if I'd get a refund for the lack of service. This is the reason our UK TV isn't working. It's been on the radio news twice and in the press, i posted a link below, - though they actually said it would be repaired by Wednesday lol

Ladies, if you are watching through the computer via the internet get yourselves the Boxee from Sharaf for dhs1000, it's small and comes with a remote and you don't need the computer. It's fantastic. Never heard of this before - can you watch i player etc on it? sounds great - I always have to get in line to use the laptop!

The only time we can watch at the moment is at 6am - after about 8am the whole thing just grinds to a buffering halt - plays 1 sec then buffers for an age. I'm missing "one born every minute" and "masterchef" I managed about 10 minutes of Eastenders this morning but at 8.15 it just kept buffering.

Yep, same problem here....though ours was stopping every 5 mins to 'buffer' for quite a few days before Du told us the cable story......maybe we have our own submarine cable just to our apartment! Very frustrating......and I bet they done give a reduction in the bill even though we havnt been getting the internet speed we pay for! OK, moan over! ;)

I'm laughing because we had the same undersea cable cut excuse a couple of years ago in Geneva, so it's patently not "Only in Dubai", whatever the naysayers like to think!

INTERNET connections in the UAE and the region will be disrupted for several days apparently due to a submarine cable cut, which occurred on March 23. http://gulftoday.ae/portal/b82c19ba-112f-4299-b42a-c3bee9d4d257.aspx Seriously, when are they going to stop the cable cut excuses and just admit that they're rubbish!

yup, our internet's been rubbish for streaming the last couple of days. Left a film to buffer for an hour before starting watching it and we're only 10 minutes in before it hangs! Rubbbbisssshhhh!
