Hi Ladies,

I am having real trouble trying to figure out which area to rent a villa. My husband works in Jebel Ali and I dont drive over here. I would really like a community feel, where neighbours speak to eachother, there are things to do with young kids and must be well connected (public transport point of view).

We saw a house in the springs this morning (in fact we saw 3) but the place seemed deserted...? I've heard good things about arabian ranches.... maybe we should consider an appartment??

oh i dont know, i need advice please...

:-)

Thanks everyone for the replies... we went to the Ranches today.... managed to secure a townhouse opposite a park/pool/tennis courts etc, walking distance to she shopping area and the golf club!! very happy :-). I'll just have to figure out the bus service... Thanks again The buses are great they come very regularly ( every 15 minutes I think and sometimes quicker) and it's an easy trip to mall of the emirates to the metro and then you can get to so many places with the new stations opening up. We love Ar and so do our kids. I'm sure you will make some lovely friends and have fun there.

Def the Ranches :) got everything. Parks, pools, lakes, shops, restaurants, supermarket, golf club, taxis and a bus service which is good cos I don't drive either.Only takes 15 mins to get to MoE then there is the Metro for anywhere else when you get there.

I second Green Community too. Its an absolutely fab place to live with kids. Everything is within walking distance. Taxis are easy to come by if you want to go to the malls.

If your husband is working at Jebel Ali you should take a look at the Green Community. The shops and hotel are within walking distance, especially on the East side, there is plenty going on in the park through the day. Lived in the Ranches also and the shops and golf club rarely within walking distance. There is a bus link as SalsB said. Also there is now an alternative to the main Jebel Ali/Green Community roundabout road where there is little traffic and you can come in the back way.

Did you look at Green Community? Is there a good bus service from there now? If you don't drive I would not consider Green Community although I personally love it there but I drive. Meadows, Springs, Arabian Ranches, Lakes would all tick your boxes. We are in Arabian Ranches and there's a superb community feel - great having the golf club too like a local pub! There is a bus service from GC to Ibn Mall now, runs every 15mins I think.

We live in the Lakes and think its one of the best family areas to live in Dubai. Every community of villas has its own common area with pool, park, basketball court, children's play area, sand pit and barbecue pit. All the kids are out in the evening, biking, scooting, playing and its such a great atmosphere.

Springs/Ranches always seem deserted in the day time, you need to go when the place is in full swing! Parks are heaving at 5pm! What springs was it you looked at?
