Best way for visitors to go to Abu Dhabi

I have visitors next week who would like o go to Abu Dhabi for a day. They were thinking of taking a bus there and then hiring a cab. Is this a good plan? Are there any coach services or other facilities? I called a chauffeur limo service and they quoted 700 dhs for a day, which they do not want to pay. Any suggestions appreciated....thanks!
