The father of the child is British, born in Nigeria. His first born will be born in Dubai. I understand the baby has the same passport as his father (British). Will the baby's passport be a British citizen's passport or a British subject's passport. What is the difference. We want the baby to live in the UK later on and have the same rights as his parents. I am confused and would welcome some guidance. Thank you.
if a child is born outside uk, and then has a child it must be born in the uk otherwise it will have to go through all the red tape and not get a brit passport automatically. my 2nd son was born in abu dhabi, and his children must be born in uk to qualify automatically for a brit passport
Not sure if it is any help but... I am born and bred British (my parents the same), husband has British passport, but also born in Africa (parents also born in a different country but grandparents born and bred British I think), daughter born in Dubai and she has a British passport and can therefore live in the UK. However, technically, her children would have to be born in Britain for them to have a British passport if the baby's father wasn't British. Sorry if I have confused you even more...?
What nationality is the baby's mother as that counts now (as in our case) whereas it didn't used to?
Think that's what i said.... basically only one generation can be born out of the UK.......

i understood that the baby is not entitled to a british passport.
I understood that the children of parents that weren't born in the UK had to be born in the UK to qualify - could be wrong thou.
