Never encountered such a thing, but looking at employing a lady who has student in her passport as her occupation. Are we able to sponsor her a housemaid visa our would she need to have her occupation status changed. She is not a sutdent anymore.

And help or info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

At this stage only her passport says student. Her father that lives in dubai is arranging a visit visa for her to come to dubai, but at this stage i'm not sure what her profession will be listed as.

If you are planning to hire her as housemaid, you will need to sponsor her under housemaid visa and obviously her visa status will change. However, you need to remember about nationalities that can be sponsored as housemaids. If the girl is the same nationality as you, you will have to prove that she is not your relative. I am sure that DNRD will give you more detailed info. FYI, as student she won't be allowed to work as housemaid (housemaid is other job status altogether)

thanks Sparly.... I know that in the 'housewife not allowed to work' scenario, all that's required is an NOC from DH. Maybe an NOC from her father is all that is needed to process visa... grey area and hoping it doesn't end up with her needing to go back to SL to get new passport.

I know you cant work on a student visa and have to be sponsored by a company. Housewives have to get an NOC from their Husband to be allowed to work ( still makes me laugh) Wouldn't your designation change if you start work anyways?

Hi Teftee, I am not totally sure but if I consider my visa, it says 'housewife not allowed to work' and i was able to get a labour card etc without any trouble. The status of my visa was changed in the system i guess, but it still says that I cannot work on my passport. HTH
