Coconut oil does not work... . Coconut oil DOES in fact work Rumadubey. Having caught headline twice when pregnant it is the only way I treat myself and the rest of the family. Each time it has been 100% effective. http://www.earthclinic.com/CURES/lice.html http://www.wikihow.com/Kill-Head-Lice-Naturally http://www.virgincoconutoil.co.uk/coconut_oil_and_super_lice.htm"Coconut oil is said to suffocate the lice and make it harder for them to maintain their grip on the hair. A study at Bristol University found that using a coconut oil based product called ******* three times every two weeks proved 100 per cent effective after 14 days and 92 per cent effective after 70. For best effects use together with a comb."

I've heard they dont like the smell of the coconut. I'll give anything a try!! I got some tea-tree oil, some "Ionil T" Shampoo, which is a coal tar treatment, which has Calicyclic Acid in it, which apprently they dont like either. And listerine, yes listerine. Apparently they hate the stuff. I got a lice comb as well. So I sprayed her head with a mixture if listerine, a bit of water, 5 drops of tea-tree oil and left it on for about 10 mins. Then I shampooed it off with their normal shampoo with some tea tree oil drops in it. Then I re-shampooed with the Ionil T and left that on as instructed for 5 mins. Rinsed it out and smothered her head with conditioner and a few drops of tea tree oil. Then I started combing, and combing. I must have got about 50 lice out. eeeeeeeeuuuuuuuwwwwwwww. Poor thing was crawling with them. I put more of the conditioner on and tea tree oil and sent her to bed. (put a towel down in her bed to avoid mess. I did the same thing for her sister, but she strangely didn't have any. then it was my turn - I have them too:\: - double euuuuuuuuwwwwwww. So after combing and combing I now have a thick layer of conditioner and tea tree oil on my head and a shower cap on!! Looking fwd to a good shampoo tomorrow. I was hoping they'd be in nursery this week as I'm full of the flu but I dont think I'll be able to send them back till i know they're clear. thanks all for your ideas and information!!

Coconut oil does not work... you could try buying this Mediker Shampoo from any Indian store, its an anti-lice shampoo and usually works.Another is selsun shampoo. Clinic All clear ice cool also works.

apparently its a lice deterrent:\: It's coconut oil you need, not shampoo. Normal 100% coconut oil that can be used for cooking. It's not a deterrent (unlike tea tree and lavender oil) it just is difficult for the lice to cling too and easier to get lice and nits off the hair shaft. Hope you feel better and it's resolved soon for DD!
