Hi,

My husband and I have just moved to Dubai. We are in our late 20's and looking for things to do that are cheap or even free :o) Any suggestions would be very much appreciated :)

Wafi Light Show is pretty cool, plus you can go for a wander through the Khan Murjan souk afterwards. And as mentioned the free movies which are on my list too

Some more ideas if they haven't been already mentioned in the fab ideas below!! :) - Creek park (cable cars & camel rides etc, lovely views of the creek). Entrance <10 AED. - Children's City (Inside creek park - an interactive science centre for kids - Entrance 15 AED - Mushriff Park (enormous! lovely natural forestry/park, huge cycle track, horses, loads of places to bbq. Also themed little ''houses" for kids to play in, each house is built in the style of that country, China, a windmill from Holland etc. really nice. Entrance 10 AED per car. - Mushriff Park & Mamzar Park also have public swimming pools, I think entrance is either 15/20. - The Old Library in MOE http://www.theoldlibrary.ae/ - Breakfast in Karama or Bur Dubai - you'll pay around 10 AED for a slap up meal in a little Indian eatery! - Al AIn Wildlife Park - lovely big safari park - partnered with San Diego zoo - animals have loads of space. Entrance <20 AED. - Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary - http://www.wildlife.ae/en/ - free!

A few more ideas: 1. Heritage village at the Creek is great and free. 2. Camel racing also free during the camel racing season - great experience. There was also a big Falconry festival just before Xmas. 3. Dragonmart can be fun to wander round especially looking at all the 'pharmacy' things they sell. 4. The big golf tournament in Nov was free if one pre-registered. 5. The big swim complex holds international events and tickets are generally around AED20. Tom Daly is out the weekend of 21st March. 6. You can hire paddle boards at Kite beach for AED30 an hour. 7.Some great sand dunes very close to Dubai. 8. I think Emirates Golf club hold free movie nights. 9. If you go out for meals the drinks can be very expensive (even soft drinks). You can save a lot of money by just ordering a bottle of local water. Relatively the food is generally cheaper than drinks.

What lovely ideas! Another one we like to do is catch the monorail on the Palm to Atlantis, wander around there, grab an ice cream at Cold Stone creamery and/ or go to the Lost Chambers aquarium. I think there are entertainer vouchers for all the above. A lovely day trip is to drive to Fujairah through the mountains, via the fishing town Kalba. As mentioned, lunch at Golden Fork (the fish n chips is nice and fresh!) Also, walk along JBR grab a coffee or light meal and people watch (and spot supercars). Or get a take away pizza and drive to the Palm west crescent and eat it overlooking the lovely lights of the Marina. Oh and sunset on Burj al Arab beach! edited by mk-in-dubai on 02/03/2013

TDB, me thinks you've just written the what to do for cheap in Dubai equivalent to the Alex's Shoes list! We shall see this list again... You could also drive out to: Al Ain, and up Jabal Hafeet, and check out the new local parks Fujeirah/Khorfakkan, nice view/calm area, eat at cheap old Golden Fork Do a historical adventure, go see Al Bitnah Fort, there's a hidden old palace our in the middle of no where (you'll have to google it as I cannot recall location! Very hidden! Lol) Drive out to the mountain areas - there are hidden natural water pools you can swim in/even go for a BBQ out at) Go out to Hatta while the weathers still good and watch the dune racing, have a nice lunch r dinner with hubby... In your car :) Just honk at te cafeteria, order and take your food for the view Abu Dhsbi, see the SZ Mosque (do nt enter AD itself - your budget will be blown on fuel as you get lost trying to get the earth outta there! :D (AD EWs will come to attack soon!) Zabeel park - great weather, you can go for a long walk in the greenery Deira side souqs - buy useless trash at absurd prices and have fun bartering Deira side, again - get off at the Metro, walk along the creek til you reach the abras - you'll see the Dhows, nice trees planted. Stop at one of the buildings and see if you can g up - great panoramic views of Dubai - eat at Popeyes lol or schwarmas - the Abra ride is one you should take,[u'>[b'> DO NOT DO IT ON A FRIDAY!!!!!!![/b'>[/u'> Walking, parks, beaches, desert, history - cheap. Hotels, brunches, dinners - expensive (except on Tuesday ladies night where everywhere has free drinks for ladies or similar deals) Thanks AmyAus82, this is also a huge help!!! Very kind of you to take the time to do :D I shall be doubly busy :)

Hi Bella, welcome to Dubai! Here are some things to do which are cheap / free. Some are touristy but worth doing if you have not done before. I would also recommend you pick up the Entertainer book - available at most large supermarkets. This contains loads of buy one get one free offers so you and hubby can go for meals etc effectively "half price". Even contains loads of vouchers for coffee shops / ice cream / Wild Wadi so you more than get the value of the book back. Also check sites like Cobone, Groupon etc for good deals every day. 1. Jumeirah Beach Park - 5aed entry and a really nice beach. You can pay 15aed for a lounger. There is a fast food stand there too 2. Mamzar Beach Park - 5aed. Same as above but 5 different beaches and lots of BBQ areas 3. Safa Park - 5aed entry. Large green space with great view of the Dubai skyline 4. Miracle Garden - 20aed entry - amazing display of 45,000 flowers 5. Bastakiya - walk round the old part of Dubai 6. Dubai Museum - 5aed I think to enter, really interesting 7. Take an abra across the creek (2aed I think) and check out the Gold / Spice souks 8. Movies under the Stars at Wafi rooftop - they show weekly movies every Sunday or Monday in the wintertime (now) - call and check what they are showing each week 9. Ravi's - a Dubai institution in Satwa. Pakistani food. 2 people can eat like kings for about 50aed 10. Go for shawarma (about 4aed each) - loads of places on Beach Road like Seashell Cafeteria 11. Dubai Mall aquarium / Atlantis aquarium - you can pay extra to go through the tunnel but it's still pretty spectacular from behind the barriers 12. Dubai Fountain - free, dancing fountains every evening about every 20 mins. Good vantage point is by the Souq al Bahar I am sure there are plenty more things people can suggest but if you're on a budget the above are a good place to start. Also pick up Time Out - they often have features about things to do around town on a budget. Enjoy! Gosh what a nice thing to do TDB ,lovely ideas there. You will be busy Bella2323.;) I will indeed :) Thanks again TDB :D
