Consumer Rights?!!

We have been on a Du package for 2 months....

Our remote control stopped working, however, we changed the batteries several times and it still doesn't work.

DH called Du up today to request a new remote control as there is something wrong with this one. They said we have to pay for a new one, as remote controls aren't covered in the warranty. We explained that we only got our TV last month, and even then, we hardly watch TV.

Of course DH got really annoyed and requested he spoke to a manager, who then went on to say the same. The manager gave us a customer complaints number to lodge our complaint!

It just seems wrong, remote controls don't just stop working after 2 months ( less if you consider how little it was used!). I've had remote controls where I've not had to change the batteries for ages!!!

So I tried calling the "Consumer rights" helpline.....only no-one pick ups!!! ( what was I expecting?)

Hey Ho...I will try calling again and quoting some consumer code of rights, but am I kidding myself in believing I'll actually get anywhere?

We got our replacement remote control!!!! :) We did have to make a complaint though, which was a confusing procedure.... But, lo & behold we received a telephone call this morning with them telling us where we could go to pick the new remote up from. RESULT :)
