I just wondered of anyone has a rough idea of what it would cost to have a 3 seater and 2 seater (from THE ONE, so the chunky type) reupholstered.

Also if you have any recommendations on where to go :)

Im trying to deceide it its cheaper to do that, or to buy new.

I ended up calling Khaleel. He was prompt in coming over, but instantly knew I had found him on expatwoman! He quoted the price mentioned here before for our 7 seater sectional (5600 dhs). I chose a nice chenille material, he redid the cushions and delivered exactly on the date stated. Our sofa seems completely new and I love it. I do think it is a pricey makeover though, and maybe I could buy a new one for the same price. We are really attached to this one though and happy with our decision!

So after the reviews on here I called Khaleel this week. I have 2 arm chairs that need to be upholstered, however I am not sure if it is me or he didnt have anything that I liked. All his 'leather' (or fake leather as he called it) was tacky and he hardly had any fabrics/patterns. Finally, I chose a 'fake' seude and he quoted me a price of AED 2000 - for this price I can buy 2 new sofas (I have checked the shops to see what is the cost of replacement as well). All in all, I was very disappointed - he did not even budge from the price and in the end said this is my price, if you are interested pls call me, becoz I am not going to lower the price (as I asked him to think about it and lower the price a little bit and call me back). May be the fame has got to his head as alot of us are calling him and he has enough work and is running out of materials

We have a 10 year old 7 seater couch in our family room. Does it make sense to reupholster or is it better to just buy new? it is a great couch but the cushions and seats will need more foam and the upholstery will have to go. Any ideas?

I recently had our 2+3 seater sofas and 2 armchairs re-upholstered. I used Khaleel 0506759186. Was very happy with the work and you can haggle over the price. I can't remember exactly but it was around Dhs 5500 for he whole lot and that included new foam cushions for all seats and new scatter cushions. You can buy a beautiful new couch for that price! Lol! I'm sure you can but not a 3 seater sofa + a 2 seater sofa+ 2 arm chairs which were perfectly good just had damaged upholstery which is all nice and new now. Of course I looked at the cost of new and recovering, there was no comparison as they are not Ikea furniture.

You wouldn't buy 2 sofas and 2 chairs for that amount! I had Khaleel recover my sofas when we moved, he did a great job and it wasn't outragously expensive, it does depend on the fabric you chose of course! My sofas are almost 20 years old and have been recovered 4 times now, if they are a good quality and you still like the style then it saves a fortune!
