The style of dress you need should be fitted around the bust and then a-line or an empire line style, they would be the most flattering....also avoid straps if your arms are bigger or not toned (just re-read its a graduation ceremony so perhaps strapless isn't an option :-) . Have a look at Coast or (as suggested) Debut in Debenhams (for evening wear). Choose a plain color and dress it up with a statement necklace, especially for photos patterns easily date and you'll look back thinking what was i thinking lol edited by Pomegranate on 17/10/2011

There is a company in Arabian Ranches called Voluptu which might suit you - they have a facebook page.

a wrap dress always looks good on a curvy figure. dont do pleats. debenhams, marks and spencers all do slimming undies.

My graduation ceremony is coming up soon, and I was looking to buy a formal dress for the occasion. Anyone can suggest what kind of dress would look good for a pear-shaped figure? Also, do you know where I can buy shapewear to cover my big hips? HELP! :) Thanks in advance! edited by rosh20 on 16/10/2011
