Interesting title considering at least one person has said they would "smack her one" and the OP used the same phrase. No, it wasn't me btw! edited by spongemonkey on 03/04/2011

Not wanting to harp on but to be reasonable and I do not know who the woman was . as you and put in your text , "Mental illness or bad day - she had no right to run around the shop like she did " if she does have a problem " mental ' she may not have any control on her actions. I get the point you are making but I do not view packers as complimentary as I pay high prices for items but equally treat staff with respect. No, I don't know different just as you don't know that she was having a bad day. Sorry for calling you silly, but I do think that you (and some others) are missing the point somewhat. Whether the lady should have had a packer at her beck and call, whether we directly or indirectly pay for this service is totally not the point. Mental illness or bad day - she had no right to run around the shop like she did. Is this the correct way to deal with a 'lack of service', paid for or otherwise. No, of course not. She was wrong even if her position as a consumer was the superior one.

Pardon, I am not being silly. She may be ill, do you know different ? But if she is demented , is she classed as been ill, so not in control of her rudeness ? Would you really have had *such* as 'bad day' that you'd be rampaging around a shop like this lady evidently was? Anger issues like this need addressing seriously. Most people eat too much chocolate or yell at their husband but this woman sounds demented and no matter what sort of day she'd had, you can never excuse her rudeness. Now you're being silly. Yes, sorry but you're being extremely silly. You are just constantly making excuses for this womans behaviour which is inexcusable!

The charge is built into the cost of item purchased. [i'>Company has to pay the full cost of a packer like any other expat employee, its all about profit and reducing costs. The company will not refund the customer if they pack themselves.[/i'> so if there is no direct charge to the customer then the service, by definition, is [b'>complimentary.[/b'>

I just was furious about the laziness of people. I have been on that side of working getting shouted at working for **** money and relying on tips but its the manner of people which get up my wick

Well I normally give whatever change I have to hand, which of course is on top of the percentage from my groceries which Mr Big Supermarket boss has determined will be earmarked for said packer come trolley collector come till boy come whatever. No? This actually got lost in all the quotes, cos this is getting on a bit now, really. Which is pointless because the packers don't get to keep the tips! They get paid as the same as the other staff, so why should they get more?

Oh, but I really must clarify that I have never actually shopped at Le Marche. ever. No. I'm really hoping that your posts on this thread are being typed with your tongue firmly lodged in your cheek SydGal. Otherwise you've rendered me speechless.
