I have entered this scary and shady world of searching for a good, honest housemaid....what a shock it has been. I have interviewed several and have unfortunately been quite unlucky. Liked a few and they promised to contact me/ come back the following day/week but no response, no cancellation calls, no texts or nothing....

I am 30 weeks pregnant and desperately looking for someone. If you know anyone or can recommend someone, please can you put me in contact with them or ask them to contact me on mayamoussly (my full name) @ gmail

My DD and many other EW posters had the same problem a few months ago. It becomes very time consuming and she interviewed lots of maids, most of whom said they wanted the job, only to change their mind the next day when they were due to start. I think they go for maybe six interviews, say yes to each one and then pick the one that most appeals to them, i.e. salary, location, etc. All you can do is keep trying but do a short interview on the 'phone first and see if you think you may like them. After a lot of hassle DD did find one eventually but it took two months to do so. Good luck. <em>edited by amelia on 25/09/2011</em>
