Hi,

Besides the obvious difference, is there any difference in terms of gratuity or anything else I can't think of right now?

DH needs to sign offer today and previously we've been on an open ended contract, and now going to a limited contract with a new employer. Their HR says this is standard procedure.

Any input will be gratefully received!

Thank you!

apart from different calculation of gratuity, there is a difference in resignation from the job. Not 100% sure, but if you resign on limited contract prior date of contract expiry, you might end up paying to employer as well. On unlimited contract, you will have to just serve the notice period. check page 31 onwards on labour law pdf in this link http://www.mol.gov.ae/newMolGateway/english/newIndex.aspx#
