Well, yes, but we don't speak the same language so maybe that is why. But seriously, my MIL seems to be one of the kindest people I have ever met.

Yep, love her dearly and she loves me. She irritates me mildly at times and I'm sure it's mutual. DH likes his in-laws too. I'm one of the lucky ones.

deffo! most importantly, and although we do love DH/DS dearly, we are in agreement that he is normally being a twit! :)

I LOVE LOVE LOVE my MIL. She is a rare gem that is always kind, always has loving words and actions for others, never stirs up an argument, defers to the way I do things with the kids (even if she disagrees).... We don't live in the same country, but i spend 2 months living with her in the summer with the kids and she has stayed with us for more than a month at a time so she really is like i described. Its not an act. I can only hope that in the future my own daughter-in-laws will be able to say the same about me

On the surface we get along, but there is an explosion coming esp since I had my baby. Annoying, clingy, obssessed with my child, passive aggressive (the most irritating of all) and attempts to control through emotional blackmail. That being said, she is not an evil person who will deliberately set out to hurt me, but takes everything I do not agree with her on way too personally. And yes, DH does love my non interfering, independent and having her own life and things to think about mother. But we all get along and family life is more or less harmonious at most times. edited by kcinthecity on 13/03/2011

You usually find that when a MIL does not like a DIL it is because she is disappointed with her son's choice. Which could well be a by-product of her being a nasty piece of work :) I get on OK with my M-I-L but she's a bit bonkers. Would never say that I hate her, she just exhausts me somewhat. Feel bad for those with horrid relationships with their in-laws, especially if you have children. Mine are lucky enough to have a lovely relationship with all 4 grandparents and are very blessed as a result.

I adore my mother-in-law; I've known her for 20 years now and she's absolutely fantastic. I know how lucky I am, though, and how few people can say the same!...;) me too! i love her to bits and am very fortunate that she can stand in when my mum's unavailable.
