Hi - In the end it was a harmless bite of another kind, but he was developing what looked like exactly like the bullseye rash so he went to the doctor right away (this was after visiting our family in the US). The first doctor had never seen Lyme's, knew nothing about it, so started googling!!! That doctor referred my hubby to the German Dr. who was much more knowledgeable about the disease. Good luck!! :-)

Thank you Mgr...I will look into Dr. Soehnchen. When you say "had what he thought was Lyme's"...did it turn out to be something else? I have been reading up a bit and apparently there are other tick borne illnesses that are similar. Certainly not what I was expecting to bring back from my Summer trip to the US!!

My husband had what he thought was Lyme's Disease and was referred to a German dermatologist by the name of Dr. Rolf Soehnchen at the Cooper Health Clinic on Al Wasl Road. He's one of, if not the only, doctor in town who is knowledgeable about Lyme's Disease (per the doctor that referred my husband to him). He explained to my husband that he's only seen about 5 or so cases of LD in Dubai and most of the patients came from the US or Europe. It's not common in the UAE, therefore few doctors are knowledgeable about it. The doctor did a blood test which was sent to Germany and results were back in about a week. In the meantime, my husband was put on an antibiotic for precautionary measures. Good luck!

I am not sure where to start - I understand in the US there are specific doctors for this illness, but how do I find one here? Any information would be greatly appreciated, as this could be very debilitating if not treated correctly, and I can't afford to go to 4 or 5 different doctors until I find one knowledgeable with this illness. TIA
