It was but a lot of new schools have opened up this year so there are plenty of FS2 spaces and spaces for all other years. It was only competitive in the past because there were only a few schools available but fortunately quite a lot of new schools have opened their doors since 2014 and a few more are also opening this September as well and they are not full at all. I didnt even put my kids in FS1 and I got a FS2 position for both of them very easily (and this was before all these new schools opened their doors). There is a lot of hype and sometimes plain exaggeration on these forums so take info on them not too seriously. Things and situations change regularly.

8-3pm for FS1 is ridiculous. Rather call the nursery and clarify the timings as it could perhaps be a typing error on their website. You dont have to enroll your child in a specific nursery to get a school spot. There are so many new schools opening that you can pick and choose where to send your child. FS2 school spots are not in shortage anymore in Dubai. Thanks Appletiser. I did call them, and yeah it is 8-3pm (they also have the option of 8-6pm!!!) I keep reading on forums and FB pages, and most are saying it's extremely competitive.

That's what it seems to say on their website. Has anyone gone through the process? I just find the hours way too long for my little boy. it's 8-3pm, 5 days a week (Emeralds Programme/FS1) and then the weird thing is FS2 is 7.45-12pm -- is that normal here? I would prefer a different nursery so he doesn't have long hours but I don't want to risk the chance of not being able to get a FS2 placement for him at school? I don't know what to doo!!!! HELPPP
