Hi all,
Anyone have any thoughts/updates on this campus....am interested to hear feedback. I'm hearing excellent reports about the Principal and am just wondering if this school will have as good a reputation as Wellington International.

I have taken the plunge and put my youngest DD into WA-DSO, as I do live at DSO. Yes the Principal seems to be particular about recruiting his teaching staff from what I have heard. Being a GEMS school the head and the teachers should have good support from GEMS headoffice and other GEMS schools. I know a couple of the support staff and teachers going into the WA-DSO school and feel confident that I have made the right move. Hope this helps.

MrsMopp thanks for your reply. It's really hard to know how this school will fare given that it is brand new. I too know several people who have taken the plunge and put their kids in for the start of the new academic year. I also know many who are going to sit back and wait to see how the first year goes and then make a decision about changing from current schools over to this one. I wonder what the quality of teachers will be like. I'm curious to know if the Principal is very particular with regards recruiting his teaching staff and keeping morale high to avoid high teacher turnovers. SH I don't know re the teachers, anyones guess I suppose, but I would imagine that some existing GEMS teachers will move over. There was also the rumour that a nearby school was loosing some of it's teachers to there, and I assume they will recruit the same way as they do for their other schools, and haven't heard any complaints. It's a shame they don't publish who their new teachers all are and their backgrounds. Now that would help people making a decision!

I'm hearing excellent reports about the Principal and am just wondering if this school will have as good a reputation as Wellington International. SH I think it will have positioned itself as a good school within the first year or two. Their communication is excellent, it's under great leadership, and I understand the amenities will be very good. Have been keeping an eye on it :-) I think if you have a chance to get in now it may be a good decision. As silicon oasis and the villa project continue to fill (and lack of spaces at JESS AR so possibly AR residents too) I'm sure the school will fill v quickly. GEMS has a proven track record without the strife of other nearby schools. We have friends going there so getting regular updates!

Just added this on main forum to someone else's question. We are new to Dubai, got 2 girls starting in sept. After struggling to get in schools, really pleased with this choice so far. Head has good reputation. Hubby , is over in Dubai, has been to every update meeting and has met most of the team, and comes back with v positive comments. Gems has good reputation, so I'm sure it will quickly find it alongside their existing ones. They seem very organised, regular updates & parent meetings? Every time I have emailed asking questions, I have got a quick response. edited by lcoolie on 23/06/2011
