Home Centre Quality?

Hoping to finally move out next month.

I've been trawling through websites to see what furniture stores are like, style & price wise. Home Centre looks to have exactly what I am looking for, basically for every room!

The prices seem around IKEA level but styles are much better. Can someone advise on quality please? There will just be two adults so we're not looking for kid proof furniture etc. and will probably just be for a few years.

Thanks.

We pretty much furnished our house from Home Centre when we arrived in Muscat 11 years ago (wasn't really any other choice back then.) We've still got most of it and some of it is coming with us to Canada this summer.

Thanks all - feel very reassured (and relieved - a desire to make a nice new home is equal to my hatred of shopping so knowing I can get a lot of stuff under one roof will be great!). daisydai - I saw that promotion but we won't be out in time. I guess if we wait it will soon be on again :) HC - no comment on the sturdiness issue ;)

They happen to have their giant voucher promo on right now. If you are looking to furnish your whole place you should hop to it and take advantage. HomesRus has theirs on now too - spend 500 get 200 back in vouchers. :)

The only piece of furniture I bought there was a couch as I had spent months looking for one and it was exactly what I was looking for. After 9 years it is still looking good and it is the most comfy couch I have ever sat on - all my visitors say the same. In fact when my brother and his wife were looking for a new one their main criteria was that it should be as comfortable as mine. So it's a thumbs up from me for Home Centre. Forgot to say that the price was very reasonable as well.

I find Homecentre too expensive for what it is. I've furnished our lounge from IKEA and the bedroom from Marina Exotic- sturdy bed is always useful ;) Home Centre quality is definitely better than IKEA though. edited by Hungry_Caterpillar on 09/03/2015

much better than IKEA in my opinion, bought a coffee table from Ikea when we moved here and MY DH broke the leg trying to install it (screw on leg)... made of cheap compressed wood. we have bought our bed and dresser from home centre and it's still holding up perfectly well.

Our lamps from there never seem to work very long! We bought our whole bed set from there (king bed + dresser + 2 side tables) and the wooden beams that support the mattress broke. They came to fix it but the beams broke again. Since we had the receipt and it was within the exchange period, they exchanged the whole set for us for a totally new design. I was very happy with their customer service!

Personally Home Centre is one of my favourite Dubai stores, its one of those you forget how good it is - until you go and are lost for hours!

Most of ours is from Home Centre. We've had it for almost three years now and it's fine and we have two dogs and three cats!!!
