Hi

We are due to move in september and have been looking at arabian ranches as its a fully established estate with all facilities but have heard people talking about cedre villas in silicon oasis.I see that rent is about 100k cheaper for a comparable villa to AR but would be worried that there are no facilities and loads of building works we have 3 children and would like to be somewhere that they can roam free to meet friends

Any advice would be thankfully accepted

Hi Dubaiden - where will your children go to school? This is SUPER important as well. It's often the case here of finding a school and then a home!!! There are long waiting lists....hope you are already set - let us know and then we can give you some better advice on where to live....

DH will be working in AD so Arabian Ranches would probably be the best bet for timing

I personally think AR is and always will be better than DSO (and I live in DSO) mainly because its fully established with all the amenities mentioned below, plus you have Motor City amenities right at your door step. But when you're talking about 100k price difference for a comparable villa then DSO is seriously a major contender. The Cedre Villas that I've been into are very nice and once inside the compound then I would easily let my kids roam free. The community centre with the big Spinneys does have great potential but as with anything in Dubai its all about WHEN and IF it will ever happen. Building works, IMO, are not an issue within DSO when living in the villa compounds - from what I've seen. Bear in mind though, that whatever facilities are in the Semmer Villa compound they are only for EK staff and families, including lots of classes/activities run at the Semmer Villas community centre. Bummer for the non EK staff but thats how it is, so this may be a huge factor to consider? Either way I think both communities are lovely, but AR is way ahead of DSO at the moment. Where will your DH be working? That may also help in your decision. Good luck with house hunting!

Hi There, I just arrived at Cedre Villas yesterday. There are not so many 'facilities' as such, but the community centre where Spinneys is has loads of potential for new shops etc. Also, the house sizes are lovely and much newer than those of AR. We just got a brand new 5 bedroom for 190k. In clusters ABCD there is an awesome communal centre with 2 swimming pools (under 6 and 6 +) and probably one of the best playgrounds I have seen yet, a tennis court and volleyball court. My children are 6 and 3 so this area SUPER important for me. The new GEMS Wellington Academy is so close we can walk and bike. I can only imagine that when the new school opens, that many of the current residents have enrolled their children so there should be loads of kids around that know each other and can play together. It's not such a drag to drive to Mirdiff City Centre for the shopping or gym, because the price and environment is just lovely here. Good luck!!!

DSO is pretty set up already, however AR does have the Golf Club and licensed restaurants which DSO doesn't and don't think they will get them either.

Hiya ceder and semmer villas in silicone oasis are both great, with pools, a spinneys, a large choithrams very close by etc... only problem is that they're so far out but a great school very close by is DESC if its something that needs to be considdered. Both large complexes are within walking distance to each other - my siblings all cross between the two constantly to meet up with different friends. Theres even talk of a cinema going up right by them also... Hope this helps
