Hi! I often avoid buying cold food when it is convenient for me because I am not going home right afterwards. It means that unless I make a special trip to the supermarket, I can't get cold food. I use insulated bags as much as possible. So, how long, in your opinion, can you leave cold and frozen food in an insulated bag at room temperature? TIA.

It depends on the bag/box. They usually say on the label; a have a bag that is good for 5 hours and another that is good for 15. edited by dairylea on 24/04/2011 15 hours? That sounds like a good quality bag. Got it from Carrefoure... They have quite a big selection. I got a big pink one from Carrefour. If it lasts 15 hours, that's be great!

Brocolli will be fine as you can refreeze - not sure about cheese slices as i don't eat them - frozen chicken you need to be careful with and would take it straight home.

No ice cream or things that will melt. Like a frozen chicken, frozen broccoli, cheese slices. I would always keep the bag at room temperature. Thanks.

depends what it is, and where it will be kept (ie, boot of a car, inside a house, etc)
