A HUGE bee hive!

Hello ladies,

I have discovered an enormous bee hive on my balcony. I called pest control and they came to see it and said they would prepare a chemical to kill them. There must be over 2000 bees there and there is no way I am going to be responsible for killing them all and their babies! The pest control men referred to it as a colony!!!

I wouldn't mind them being there but its growing so big and so fast and I have a senile cat (yes senile) and i'm worried he will bump into it so I have to get rid of it.

I know that some companies smoke them out. This doesn't kill them it just makes them fly away. However, when I asked Pest Control about this method they said they do not do it. Does anyone know of anywhere that will do this? I would hate to have to kill them. In fact I wouldn't do it....feel too mean.

Appreciate any advice....

P.S. I have a bee phobia....one that makes me squeal, scream and jump around like a mad woman. Its embarrassing.

Thank you everyone. For now I am going to leave it. I just wont use the balcony. If it gets much bigger I will buy a bee keeper suite, light a bbq and try and smoke them out. I have looked through the entire world wide web and can not find one single organisation in the UAE that gets rid of them without murdering them. Its so disappointing that people just kill them without thinking twice about them. However, I do wish they had landed on someone else's balcony so they weren't my problem any more :(

I like the ideas especially from eggs. what else u can try is to fumigate. get Bakhur charcoal .from any grocery store.get some loban(kind of natural gum in white or off whit color)available in LULU Bersha.get dried thyme. put pieces of loban and thyme on burning coal and put under the tree . or any way u can or some one can fumigate the bees for u they will go away. get that yummy honey. dont throw the wax away. and the propolis the black substance very useful thing search it over the net. all the best.

If they are honey bees....definitely do not kill them. They are mother natures workers and provide a very important role on our planet, and there is evidence they are in decline. If they are wasps, or hornets....I personally would not have a problem, as some actually kill the the good honey bee workers.

I think it's really great that you are thinking about the bees and their contribution to our Earth before just exterminating them. Bees aren't pests they are an important part of the ecosystem. Sorry can't help other than a quick pat on the back.
